So this movie is due to release sometime soon I think. It looks pretty interesting. Athough I do;'t like the fact it's about kid's really, it seems to much like Harry Potter (although this was writtebn before it).
But my question is, who has the read the book's? If so are they worth reading?
I personally HATE Harry Potter and it seems like it owuld be like it. I'm a huge fan Lord of theRings though. I dunno why, but Harry Potter seems kind of immature compared to it.

Thats the movie based on The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, right? I heard good things about the book, so I bought it in 5th grade. 4 years later, I never read it yet. Fantasy doesn't really appeal to me.

The books are amazing...I've read all 7 and while the books seem to be aimed more at kids they are good reads for any age. I remember reading them when I was younger and I would still read them again today now that I'm older.
C. S. Lewis was a great man.
I'm just hoping that the movie does justice to the story. The story is not simply about a bunch of kids that find a magical land. The story represents the life and death of Christ; it is a representation of the gospel of Christ. Aslan is the figure of Christ all throughout the 7 books and he is sent to Narnia by the emperor across the sea to set things right in Narnia. Obviously, the white witch represents Satan and the power of sin.
Anyways, I highly recommend the books to everyone and even though I haven't seen it, I recommed seeing the movie...I'm having faith that they'll do justice to the story and the meaning behind it.

They are definitely worth reading. I plan on reading them again before I see the movie. I am so excited to see it.

The only thing is that because the story is a Christian story, it will probably end up like the Passion of the Christ where making fun of Mel Gibson and the movie turned into the cool thing to do.

I really like the old cartoon version, or did when I was younger so I'm hoping this does just as good.
I would like to see movies of the other books because they are all so underrated (if books can be) although it would be rather hard to make them into a decent movie because of CS Lewis's writing style.

man that sucks.....if it is the 2nd one then why didnt they start the movie with the 1st one? or do they even go in order?

It isn't necessary to show the first one in order to understand the second so it doesn't really matter.
Still, the first one is great too. The first one represents the creation of life; Genesis.

For those who don't know, unabridged means, not edited, not changed in any way

Can't wait to see this movie, I was a huge fan of the books.
Just in case anyone was wondering here are all the titles in chronological order.
The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle
Great books, re-reading them again in anticipation of the movie.

The Magician's Nephew was written last, though it describes the events before The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I find the allegory a little to intellectually simplistic in the Chronicles of Narnia, but if you're trying to read something simply for a good yarn, they're pretty good.
Obviously, the white witch represents Satan and the power of sin.
Not really. Tash is more symbolic of Satan. I suppose you could say that the winter put in place by the White Witch is analogous with the power of sin, though.

I think the witch clearly represents Satan. She is the queen of the land that has fallen into permanent winter which represents evil; sin. She is the one who wants to be the queen over the land and everything in it and she wants to destroy Aslan who represents Christ. (Spoiler Warning - stop reading if you don't want to know the outcome of the story). Aslan comes to the land that has been lost to the power of the witch and her winter and he overcomes her and the winter...although she isn't permanently destroyed seeing as she comes back later in the Chronicles.

Now that's where it should have been left. This remake is probably going to suck.
I liked the BBC adaptions, so hopefully this film will be crap (like Pride and Prejudice) compared to them, and I can still keep my BBC flag flying.
Very good storyline, of course.

It's funny, I saw those the year they came out on TV back in '88 when I was just two-years old. I don't remember anything prior to the age of four except for watching those movies, so obviously that says something. They make an impact. Remaking them for the sake of special effects++ is going to be a poor show methinks.
I know! The only childhood movies I remember are those Narnia ones. Gotta love the cartoon monsters that they battle. :D

Only if you read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe independently of the other books. Otherwise Tash is a far closer symbol to Satan. He is opposed to Aslan (Christ). It should be noted that the Calormenes who sincerely honoured Tash are rewarded after their death for having really honoured Aslan; likewise those who do evil in Aslan's name are counted as having done it the name of Tash.
There are also links between Tash and the other pagan gods of the Old Testament.

Oh, well I agree with you then. I'm just talking about the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Wait a second, I'm trying to remember. Is Tash the Green Witch in the Silver Chair?
And there is a scene where those of her helpers who repent jump into a heaven of sorts.

If I remember correctly, the Green lady is the same person as the white witch, right? I know that Jadis in the Magician's Nephew is the white witch and I'm pretty sure that the Green lady is the same person as the white witch. I know for sure that the white witch is in The Silver Chair...it's been too many years since I've read the books....

Yeah, you're right. A guy drinking from something and then going down in screaming fits of pain. A whole bunch of dead people coming up from the water trying to kill people. Lots of blood. A guy cutting off his hand to make a one step away from being Satanic sacrifice. People getting murdered left and right. Things that look like Hell demons sucking away your soul. Yeah, you're right, totally immature.

Anyways, I probably will see it. I'm not sure when it comes out though. I'll see it probably about two weeks after Harry Potter comes out... so I have some money, and the theatre isn't jam packed with people.

I'd say the Harry Potter series are more original than the Chronicles of Narnia, which are, let's face it, a retelling of the stories in the Bible. CS Lewis is a better considerably better writer, though.
Oh, well I agree with you then. I'm just talking about the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Good to know.
Is Tash the Green Witch in the Silver Chair?
No. He's a god that's meant to oppose Aslan.
Oh, I remember now. It's been so long since I read the books/watched the movies.
