so i want to start a band with some friends were i will play bass. i saved some money, bought a warwick thumb bass ( 5 strings, and yes, it was a lot of money i saved )
my problem is: i have no experiences with playing bass on stage because i´m a guitar player normally. what amp/cab/gear should i buy to play metal-ish stuff on stage?

Well.

Another dude that wants to sound like Fieldy.

Fine. I'll help and not flame you.

Tune down, use thin strings, hit the strings hard, turn up the tweeter (all the way) turn up the highs all the way, and the lows, with the mids ALL the way down. And use an Ibanez to get that clankiness.

And then learn to play bass.

ANyways, as far as your rig goes- what do you want? How much you wanna spend? what do you have to compete with?

Then I can help...

i can spend up to 3500-4000 $ for amps, effects, cabs etc.

Fender rumble 100 is a great amp on a budget and u can play small venues with it.

A second hand peavey might do the job, also do you want a stack or a combo?

Hmm, I think that you are looking for my gk800rb/fender bassman 2/12 combo. I had it priced a little over that but I can cut you a break since you are an mxer.

This'll be fun.

If you like Warwick, I can't help but direct you to GK and Mesa.
GK's tend to be more oldschoolish, IMHO, whereas the Mesa is very modern sounding.

If you are competing with, say, droptuned guitars and lots of double bass, I'd suggest the Mesa.
I've never met a Mesa Bass 400+, 6x10, and 1x18 I didn't like.
I had that exact setup for a little while, some of he best sound I ever had.
Definitely try some stuf out though, dude.
I wish I had a better idea of the sound you wanted...
Maybe a link??????
