Hi there.

Anybody can tell me famous songs (of any genre) using the I-V-ii-vi progression?

I've been trying to think of some....but none are coming to mind at the moment (you'd think I could think of at least one).

Not everyone in S&L are musicians though, some are just poets/lyricists...if you took this to the guitar forums a lot more people could probably help you out. I'll keep thinking though.

I'll clue you in...it's fairly simple.

If we are playing in the key of C, we would assign every step of the C major scale to a number:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1
C D E F G A B C

Or if we are playing in A:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
A B C# D E F# G#

Understand? That's what he means by 1, 5, 2, 6. It's helpful, because now we can change the key of songs fairly easily, because we just have to think about what step of the scale it is, then adjust the chords accordingly.

edit - Excuse the damn spaces getting ****ed up, I can't help it.

If you play an instrument, but don't use theory....just forget about what I told you because it won't make much sense and you won't use it anyways.
