I am looking to buy a mic for recording, basically for some home demos of my band. I am not at all familar with mics or other recording equipment, so I figured I would come here to see what peoples opinions are on the following:

It appears to be what I'm looking for and contain the necessary components to record at home by use of the computer. Is it worthwhile? Good for the price? Feel free to suggest other things as well, although know that my price range has got to be right around the $100 mark.

Yeah but if you use a mic (as opposed to plugging your geetar into your soundcard) like I do, then seriously USE A NOISE GATE. Even if you can't hear any amp buzz, you need a noise gate, if not, then with the mic right up close to the amp, the recording will have a background buzz. If you use distortion, I would suggest a pedal with a built-in noise gate, like the Line 6 Uber Metal. I snatched one up for £40 reduced from 80. Good pedal.
