I have a 6 band eq on my amp.
The usual four, volume, treble, middle, + bass, but what is presence and compression?
Whatever it is when i turn compression up it vibrates like mad and presence seems to do nothing much.
I have a carlsbro kickstart 30w amp.

I wonder the same thing about my Aural Enhancer. Doesn't really do much, but I think it's supposed make it sound clearer. Compression might be a form of gain.

compressio.. im not sure how to word it.. its a limiter.it basically makes everything you play close to the same vollume, i think.

Presence is generally a boost in treble frequencies which aren't quite 'musical' bands of EQ, but rather gives your tone the audible appearance of sounding more... how do I say it... present, I guess.
Compression is a lesser form of limiter, which simply takes the highest peaks of your volume, and compresses them down so they aren't as loud.
A limiter actually just cuts your sound at a certain volume peak, whereas a compressor just brings down the volume.

to thread starter: volume nobs not considered an EQ band.. just letting you know.. you have a 3 band eq.
compression just takes the wave lengths of your sound and "compresses" them so you dont clip, and makes everything at an equal volume.. for example when you slap usually the pops are much louder than the thumps, compression makes them equal.
and for who ever said something about an aural enhancer.. yea ive got the same thing.. im guessing its got something to do with making your effects/frequencies all "flow" together or something.. cause in my amps manual its got like eq settings for slap, funk etc.. and the aural enhancer does help a bit.. ive got an swr workingman 4004 and the workingman 410 cab
but if anyone knows what it does specifically please post i would really like to know haha
and a limiter i think its been said before, but il ljust say it again for the hell of it haha, it cuts off your peak volume mostly to protect your amp i guess, cause clipping is bad for it
so...you only have one knob that simply says compression?

I looked in resources, you have to go to display options and put form the beginning cause it had disappeared, im not lazy you know..
and supernaut i have:
treble : middle : bass : presence : compression
well, if the compressor doesn't even have attack and release capabilities, i wouldn't even use it.
