Okay, to sort out some controversy, I thought I would take a moment from my busy schedule to help educate you in the art of not spoiling things for others. So lets start with some Frequently Asked Questions, otherwise known as 'FAQs'

What is a spoiler?
Basically, a spoiler is any tidbit of information that gives away the ending or reveals any major plot points/twists to any type of media (movie, game, novel, comic strip...etc). Most spoilers only relate to material that was only recently released but that is no excuse to throw around endings to a 5 year old movie that someone might not have seen yet.

Why should I bother to hide my spoilers?
Put yourself in someone elses shoes and imagine how you would feel to have your favourite show or game wrecked for you before due time. That should give a fair hint as why you should be careful.

How to hide your spoilers
As Jeremy (mx) has so far chosen not to endow the forums with spoiler tags, we can assume that for the time being we are going to use url tags, which work exactly the same and therefore aren't incredibly likely to be replaced.

Here's how you do it:

( (insert spoiler here))

By doing that, your spoiler will remain hidden until someone clicks the "quote" button at the bottom of your post, it is usually helpful to let people know you have a spoiler in your post, to do this, write "quote for spoiler" at the bottom of your post. This will not only allow people to see your spoiler if they wish, but it will also ensure users who don't want spoilers can quote your post via the "quick reply" without having anything wrecked.

So now your post should like something like this:

I agree

( (insert spoiler here))

quote for spoiler

Now, if you can get your head over that, you should be ready to start safely spreading spoilers.

Remember, ( (insert spoiler here))

quote for spoiler

I agree with the idea of this thread. but it is still a sloppy way to give out "tidbits" ..........

Tidbits or not, this forum has wrecked both Lost and 24 for me so far.

That sucks, I'm going to join the "Spoiled Club" because I cbf watching Lost next year. The fags (Ch 7) should just play the rest of the show already instead of being greedy for ratings.

I'm not even gonna bother go into any of the Saw II threads. All I heard from my friend is that it was a "sweet movie".

but yes, this spoiler idea works.

Spoiler of Hannibal's book-ending.com (Clarice lets Hannibal escape and hooks up with him in the end, they have daily sex, and enjoy the fine culture of Europe)?
good example ( I knew that)

No guys, check the first post, you put your spoiler inbetween the '=' and the ']' so you can read it legibly when you go to advanced quote that spoiler

Isn't this how we always did it in the first place, until someone said it didn't work, except it still does work?

How about I DON'T make the extra effort to hide spoilers, just because some little whiny kid can't keep himself from clicking the thread where it's being discussed.

Edit: I just read where you said 24 and Lost has been ruined for you. It figures that you're the type of moron I'm talking about. Hey queer, ANAKIN SKYWALKER IS DARTH VADER LOLOL

this way only works if you're using the standard editor, which I think sucks.

Don't you have a motorbike accident to die in or something?

How about just say spoiler at the top of the post? It's not really rocket science.

Because then if people want to discuss the spoiler in a thread, it will get too long and it's very annoying to read. This way seems more suited for the forum.
