Just got this in the ol' Acapellica mailbox.

MySpace is putting out a record - and if you buy it, you can get more photos for your myspace page :)

This is something I'm really excited about. It's not something I've mentioned much on my profile, but before MySpace I was in bands for most of my life. That's where I came up with the idea for MySpace Music and having bands on the site. For most of this year, I've been working on putting a record label together -- MySpace Records -- and the first release, a compilation CD, is finally here.

The first record is a rock record and I picked the songs. I'm thinking about doing a screamo/hardcore and a hip hop/rap one next.

Would you guys really want a major label puppet label putting out a comp with those bands? That would be even worse.

i guess youre right but more people need to listen to those bands so they can get the recognition they deserve.

The bands need the recognition, but I'm just wondering if they will really put many hardcore/screamo bands on there, or if it's all going to be poppy shi't.

They really don't.

The people that listen to them are the people that are listening to them for the right reasons. Its blessed by being a very undiluted scene.

So you're saying that lesser know known hardcore/screamo bands from Myspace don't deserve a chance to become more recognized? Do you not think they deserve it or something?

If a band doesn't want on the comp, then I'm sure they won't be. It's not like Tom is just going to steal a bunch of group's tunes and stick 'em on the disc without permission.

Disagreeing(sp?) isn't bad, as long as we don't act like douches about things. Learning is nearly impossible if everyone thought the same way.

Have you seen the way Myspace labels it's "Myspace Music" bands?

I bet this "hardcore/emo" cd is going to have Hawthorne Heights or some gay **** like that. They're going to screw this up. I know it.

They don't need public recognition. I doubt they even want public recognition.
By public I maen mainstream. UNDERGROUND HARDCORE bands are underground hardcore fora reason mostly, and don't want public recognition because they're HARDCORE. That's why no HARDCORE bands have videos on MTV.

Didn't read past the first three posts, but honestly, can you expect MySpace to put out a decent screamo/hardcore record? Can you expect MySpace to put out any decent music? Can you expect MySpace to do anything decent?

I never thought i'd live to see the day when a mod drunk-posts on MX. Shame on you.

I would love to see trophy scars on this comp, since this computer im on doesnt have speakers, and the only way i could ever hear anything from them is on a CD. I really, really want to hear this band.
