Just a suggestion, stick the list of Xbox games that are compatible with the system in the [code] tags to reduce the size of the post.

I doubt I'll be buying any next generation (soon to be current generation) console for quite awhile, even though I've got a fair bit of money I just don't want to lash out and purchase a console that I'll regret. So I'll be waiting for the Revolution and Playstation 3.

Good idea, didn't realise we had code tags in here now. I don't plan on getting one ether, waiting for the Revolution. Maybe in time when it start supporting HD-DVDs and if that becomes the standard medium I'll look into it as mainly a player and a console second.

Remember guys it's probably harder to emulate some games than others, which is probably why some very popular games like the Madden series aren't on there. Either that or they want people to lash out and purchase Madden on the Xbox 360 rather than just play their old versions.

You should probably wait until the Revolution and Playstation 3 come out, or at least I think you should. At the very least I'd wait for Sony and Nintendo to release more information, and sources point towards Sony releasing a ton of information in February 2006 in a Sony conference. And I'm pretty sure Nintendo is having a conference sometime in early 2006.

Unfortunately my Xbox is slowly eating itself so I sort of need something since I can't easily upgrade my computer (see: my thread). I have confidence in Microsoft that I don't have in Nintendo. I'm not sold on the whole "remote controller" thing. And I've never been a big Playstation fan, and the lack of a hard drive doesn't sit well with me.

Yeah, when a game console comes out, I wait for the second or third generation versions. Because that's when most/all of the bugs are fixed. I won't really consider the X-Box 360 until I know what PS3 has to offer.

I'm the same way. Plus, a lot of the launch titles for the 360 don't really seem that impressive to me either. I'll wait until the PS3 and revolution are released so I can see how each console stacks up against one another. Also, the most anticipated games for the XBox360 won't even come out until around the same time that the PS3 is released anyways.

I had FFXI for the pc, still do but I stopped subscribing to it because ultimately it's not nearly as good a game as any of the other Final Fantasies I think, that said if you had a number of friends that all play together then it might not be so bad but whilst I was playing it I found it boring. Plus the fact that people use their real money to buy in game gil and other items. Which means the prices of things in game go up.

I thought the price was pretty reasonable to be fair. Where I lived, at least, the Xbox was more than that when it launched. And it's only a few quid more than a Sony PSP...and I think it's safe to say it's better (although I know that's like comparing apples and oranges, but hey ya know what I mean!)

Just my opinion though. I'm contemplating asking for one for crimbo and pitching in as much money as I can, but I'm still a little at odds. It'll save me the hassle of having to spend a good 700 to buy the parts for a new computer to run the games I wanna run, and it'll keep my music setup free of games. But I'm a little unsure as to what games are going to be around when it launches. If I'm gunna skimp on the full package and go "Core", that means I won't even be able to borrow regular Xbox games to tide me over until the titles I'm looking foward to (UT2007 for example) are out.

Kinda worried I'll get the thing and have either shít games, or no games to play!

I played it yesterday at EB games. King Kong was kinda weird...very cinema-ish. Call Of Duty 2 was ****ing incredible. It was insane...the graphics were good, but not as good as expected. King Kong's graphics were damn good, but it seems like ps3 is going to look better

I'm disappointed in Kameo. It's been in development for something like 6 years (I remember originally seeing it as a Gamecube demo) and now it's out it turns out to only be about 10 hours long! (According to Gamespot)

Im a Nerd, so to me it is.
Just dont get the cheaper one because it doesnt have the wireless stuff and the hard drive, if you are buying it get the full version.

But the graphics are a little better.
Id buy it yeah.

And it does play older xbox games... only the big hits, such as halo and halo 2.
Theres a list out there on what xbox games it plays, and I think its only microsoft games.

I want the 400 dollar Premium System. I won't be getting it for Xmas, but I might be getting a job at EBGames like....tomorrow. So if I get the job, once we fill our preorders (which I assume isn't many it's a small town) I'm grabbing one on the next shipment, or I'll just go to Target or Wal Mart. No, it doesnt work if you buy the cheap one.
So if you buy the cheap one, they might make a buyable hard drive allowing you to do so, and they are gonna make it like 150 dollars, stick with the 400 dollar one, youll be saving money

Over here in Australasia the Xbox has been slowly gathering fans. When it first came out it had a tiny section in gaming stores, but now it has grown and is reasonably popular.

Halo 2 was infact one of the top selling games for 2004, and only got pipped to the post by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. So I wouldn't say Halo and the Xbox's success is restricted to the US, it just had less success elsewhere.

Oh and to all those people that praised the Xbox 360 having a worldwide launch, they told a half-truth. The Xbox 360 won't launch in Australasia and several Asian countries until sometime in 2006. Really it is just a largest target audience launch.

Eh, I wasn't very impressed with what I saw of the 360. At least not $400 impressed. I saw some actual gameplay graphics rendering put alongside what Microsoft said graphics would look like a couple of months ago. It wasn't exactly matching up well. I'm not a console player these days, but if I were I'd go for a Revolution. Hell, I might get one of those, anyway. I like the idea of downloading all the old games. Beetle Adventure Racing rides again. :)


EDIT: One of the games for the 360 looks sweet, though. It's an ultra-violent FPS style game. Basically you just run around killing a bunch of zombie bums. Looks like good fun.

I wouldn't be so hyped up about the 360 or willing to buy it if it weren't for my computer's current state. Sadly I can barely run Counterstrike 1.6 on this thing anymore and even running 1.5 was hell. I still managed to get some decent scores though. The Xbox 360 seems to be as close as I can get to a new computer because I really am not at the point where I can dish out the money for a new AND decent computer.

I recounted and verified that. Then their ONE buddy came strolling up with his little cigarette like he was Hugh Hefner or something. And as mad as I was, I had also been waiting in line for almost 7 hours(2:30ish to about 9), and at that point I just wanted a 360 or to go home. I couldn't be bothered causing scene.

As for the whole mailing out Thursday night, if I have to camp outside another Target store on Thursday night(Solo, of course, because I don't want you getting fired), then so be it. I will have one before Christmas.

Played it at my neighbour's house before. Perfect Dark Zero is amazing and possibly the greatest shooters I've ever played. If you liked the first one, you must buy this one. Condemned is just amazing, it plays with your mind and graphics are sick. Madden is also very good. I can't wait to get my 360 next week. Awesome stuff.

Yes. There were a few parts where I jumped up and I almost tossed that wireless control out the window. Crazy game. Crazy graphics. Another thing I would like to add is that Perfect Dark has no lag at all online. No slowdowns, nothing. Great games.

It was the same thing happened when the PS2 launched as well.

Shortages always means there is a decent size profit to be made on eBay. For instance I sold a USED copy of Guitar Hero about a week after it came out for $81.00 on eBay. It was sold out everywhere at the time.

I also have a question, will it make a big difference in cleanness and clarity if i play 360 on a hdtv than a regular tv. Cause im already lucky im able to spend about 500 on the system i dont wanna spend another 600 on a small hdtv.

And like the original article says, one small group doesn't reflect the majority of consumers. There's always the possibility that the partiuclar batch of systems they bought were all mishandled in shipping.

I'm not getting one. I played that Call of Duty game at virgin megastores, which had a hdtv as well, and I can't say I was overwhelmed. It was good.

This new playstation3 has about 5 different processors to carry out different tasks, eg physics, graphics, sound etc, according to Ign. Probably won't get either of these new consoles really.

I've heard apparently that the New halo game will be released near to the date when the ps3 comes out, I remember playing the original halo multiplayer at a friends house, that was cool.
