So, I saw this the other day, thinking it would be terrible, but I was bored and watched the whole thing anyways.
I have to admit, it wasn't that bad at all. I mean, it isn't one of those movies that I could call great, but it definitely wasn't "zomg worst movie ever". Oh, and Kate Winslet has to be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood today.
So ITT discuss the movie or how much of a fairy I am for not calling this the gayest movie of all time.

I watched the alternative ending one the other day. How stupid was that!

True, but honestly, that film was awful.

Eh, the dialouge was weak at some points, but as cheesy as it sounds, itgripped me. Also I actually paid attention to Jack and Rose and how it was actual true love, even though they knew each other for such a short time, and how the old Rose is still crushed by Jack's death years later. It didn't make me cry, but it made me feel a little blue.
I didn't make this thread to say "I <3 TITANIC", but to say it wasn't terrible.
It didn't deserve that Best Picture Oscar though.

Who knows, I might just be going through a phase.

He snatches it off her as he's drowning, then she dives in after it and they both die.

Pwned
I remember I saw this when it first came out, I was like seven, so I never really formed much of an opinion. I remember thinking it was too long.

ICEBERG DEAD AHEAD!!!!.....oh wait...no we passed it.....so, what are you planning on doing when we get to NY?
nah that would be a bit lame really. i'll admit the movie was ok. but i was only there to see the carnage. i remember talking about going to see it and thinking even if it's boring and soppy the sinkng will be entertaining.

I liked it. And I almost cried when it ended, as far as I remember.
I really don't think it was a bad movie, and I personally definitely got engaged in the story. I'd say the relationship between Jack and Rose was pretty touching.
So there you have it. And I only think it's hated by so many because that's the cool thing to do.

Titanic is a cool movie, even if it does have Celine Dion. Large-scale disaster + shipwreck + Kate Winslet's boobs = cool.

I was too young when I saw it in Theater to think anything else "wow I saw breasts for the first time!".
It's been on HBO quite alot around here and I've watched it twice through out as I was going to sleep. I thought it was fantastic in a hollywood and historical sense. Some scenes were really depressing though like when the band stays together to play, and when the two old people are holding hands together on there bed as the room is filling up with water.
My girlfriend doesn't know how to sleep so that movie never ceased to shake me.

Touche.

You know that was based on fact? Apparently the band actually did that on the real ship. Pretty sweet.

One of my all-time favorite movies. I still have to watch the new special-edition they released because it has an alternate ending. Either they avoid the iceberg, or (hopefully) they end it like that one scene in Family Guy...

I didn't mind the movie at all, I thought the whole sinking part of the movie was entertaining as hell. Hell I thought the whole movie was alright, so it really doesn't matter to me.
Either way, probably won't watch it anytime in the near future. When I did watch it last (about 5 years ago) I didn't mind it on HBO.
