I finally have some expendable money, so its time to get a video card.
I have choice A: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131420
And choice B:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220
I have to say I'm leaning towards B just because of the amount of positive reviews its gotten, but I'm clueless so I have no idea. So if I were to just order that right off of the site, would it work on this (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&product=460075&dlc=en&)? And would it be good to play Call Of Duty 2, HL2, and other new games?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be compatible.
I have the X800 and it works perfect with HL2, Doom 3, and FarCry. I'm sure you'd get the same response from people with the 6600 as well.

of the two, i'd get the X800 instead
although keep in mind your bus interface
is it AGP or PCI-e?
cause you have one of each listed there

Get the 6600GT. The ATI card only supports SM2.0 and the Nvidia supports SM3.0. The 6600GT is currently the best bang for your buck card. It beats the x800GT in benchmarks.

Get the 6600GT, if possible. I say if possible because in your computer specs I see no mention of a PCI-e slot or an AGP. If this is correct, you will be out of luck for upgrading graphics. Except for a budget PCI card like an FX5200. I'm gonna take another look. I'll edit it in if I missed anything the first time around. I know it would be unusual for a mobo not to support AGP or PCI-e, but it's been known to happen. Unfortunately.
EDIT: Upon second look, I'm pretty certain your computer does not support the cards you are looking at. Or anything like them.

Yes, same thing.

Also make sure you know if your motherboard has a agp or pci-e or if it even has either one of those.

According to this it has "Three PCI", and no AGP slots. Is PCI the same as PCI-e, or am I screwed? :(

You're screwed. Ether look into a PCI card, or get a new motherboard which will in turn basically mean you need a whole new PC.

That is a Quadro card which is meant for CAD rendering, it would be terrible for video games.
Best card you'll find is an ATI Raedon 9250 or a Nvidia Geforce FX5500.

Well, then it looks like I will be getting a 360 after all, because I'm not buying a motherboard and a videocard.
Will those cards even be able to keep up with newer games?

This really irks me. I feel for you, man. IMO, manufactuers have no excuse to offer computers with no AGP slot whatsoever. Especially when void of PCI-e, also. It's not cost cutting, really. It's simply to try to squeeze a few more dollars out of consumers by forcing them to "upgrade" to a machine with an AGP slot. Which IMO should be standard on a computer like yours. p4 3.0 w/HT, 800fsb, 1 gig ddr2 RAM, and no AGP slot on a non PCI-e motherboard? It boggles the mind. You have a fairly decent set up. More so then a lot of people. And you can't really game well on your computer. That sucks. Take a look at these. They are most likely the best PCI graphics cards you will find:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814145055
The only difference is Mb's on the card and price. If it were me I would be willing to pay the extra $23 fo the 256mb card. May as well make the most of your upgrade while you can. The first card has gone up in price $19 dollars recently. Yet other similar cards have been discontinued altogether. They must be on the way out. Expect average performance on low and medium settings for most newer games.

Yeah, I can't undestand how buying a $1300 computer in June 2005 can do something like that. I think I may just stick with playing CS, Call Of Duty, and Sims 2 for now because now its got me pissed off.

^^Here are some Far Cry screens from Metal Guitar. He has the PCI FX5200 256mb. Not incredible, but decent enough for what you pay, I suppose:
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9866347&postcount=319
I had an AGP FX5200 and ran Doom3 and Far Cry and Painkiller on low/medium settings. Painkiller on mostly high, as a matter of fact. The FEAR demo, too. On rock bottom settings. That wasn't a pretty picture. And of course expect slow down, lag, sputters, etc.....

6600 GT willl overclock to 600/1100 which is about what that X800GT is.
They're both great cards, but geforce is better bang for the buck.
Threadstarter, if you want to be able to play upcoming games, just buy a new motherboard first and get one with PCIe slot since AGP will become obsolete in few years. Heck nvidia didn't even make their newest graphics card 7800GTX, for AGP at all. So it's starting to slow down.
Those PCI cards are all garbage for today's gaming. I have geforce 6600 vanilla, which runs at 300 core clock and 500 memory clock and I'll have to upgrade soon.
