In your opinion, what are the most beautiful scenes in any medium of entertainment you've seen/read/heard.

Everytime I listen to Bach's Air it reminds me of the scene in End of Eva where Asuka's Unit 02 is finally kicking ***, only to get torn apart. Speaking of Bach, Jesu, Bleibert Meine Freude (Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring) is also another one of those beautiful scenes; the music fits Shinji's catharsis wonderfully. Third Impact was depressing in a happy way, due to Komm Susser Todd playing.

In "Hannibal", where Dr. Lecter finally has a harpsichord and continues to play a classical piece using a crow's feathers is nice, also, when he is listening to Schubler Chorales in his prison. Another is when he gets shocked in the eye, but uses his mind's "mansion" to escape pain by resting his face onto a cold marble statue.

Add your beautiful scenes.

There's some pretty beautiful movie scenes out there- Alyssa Milano in "Embrace of the Vampire" is one in particular.

pretty much all of jet li's hero. i love the way the director plays around with different colours.
a couple of shots really stuck in my head, like the fight in the throne room and the king starts cutting down all the curtains and there is a shot of him stood in the middle of the room as the curtains fall dwon around him in slow mo.

that whole movie is beautiful

The scene from "The Pianist" wheres he's been discovered by the German officer but he doesn't kill he just asked him to play the piano, that made me cry so hard (the whole film in general). Infact I just ordered the soundtrack off amazon literally 5 minutes ago.

The final scene in American Psycho, in which Bateman confesses everything and yet there are no repercussions for his crimes. I think the writing in this film is somewhat beautiful and thoughtful.

The end scene of The Devil's Rejects. It's just overall amazing. The song just adds so much to it.

I think Stevos reaction to Bobs death in SLC Punk is on of the more convinvcing scenes I have ever seen. That scene managed to actually hit me on an emotional level, which very few feature films do.

Also, the end of FFX is just heart-breaking the mujsic is wonderful and bang on with ther emotion of the scene (Atop the highwind as Tidus begins to fade away). Having Yuna desperatly try to grab him and she just falls through his image, admitting her love for him he "holds" her even though at that moment in time it is impossible to do so. Followed later by an inspirational speech from Yuna at the Luca stadium with a lasting final line. I've beat the game many times over just to see the final cut-scene.

Movies:

Spider-Man 2: the Doc Ock surgery scene in a soft black and white noir style was amazing.

Oldboy: the hallway scene in which Dae-su Oh fights off a gang of ne'er-do-wells with a hammer. The scene, filmed side-scrolling, and in one continuous shot just made it ballet in controlled mayhem.

Music:

Against Me! - Beginning in an Ending: as much as I love other songs of theirs, this one has something else to it that enables me to listen to it endlessly.

The Shawshank Redemption: Last 10 or so minutes. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but anyone who has will agree with me that it's pretty sweet.

All of Rope. It's a beautiful masterpiece of script writing.

Music: A lot of stuff by The Eels, The Shins, Godspeed You Black Emperor. GYBE can be absolutely amazing at times.

Movies: The scene in the Boondock Saints where the two guys are shooting at the guy with the beard and the police guy is listening to the opera and shouts "AND THERE WAS A FIREFIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!"

There is also a lot of really beautiful photography out there.

The scene in Eternal Sunshine in the library, with all of the book details dissappering, while Joel comments on what Clemetine was saying.
