So my English class just finished our unit on Macbeth. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I enjoy theater type stuff as long as I don't have to act it out, and I love how Shakespeare made the play for the rich smart people and the stupid peasants.

So who would you rather fight: Macbeth, or the 3 witches/weird sisters?

I would rather fight the weird sisters. While they're making up their stupid prophecy bs, I would break their wands, and throw them into the cauldron. Then I would pull their nose hair.

I would not like to fight Macbeth, because in Act 1 Scene 2, the minor character Captain talks about how Macbeth unseamed that fool from nave to chop. Now since I'm a fan of Brave Heart(When I say fan, I mean I saw it and liked it, I guess), that reminded me of when he is disembowled or whatever, and that wasn't pleasent.

OKAY so whatever the hell I just typed about, discuss it and stuff. And talk about getting in fights with characters from famous plays.

Doesn't he cut someone's head off, then walks into another room holding it?

Also I just finished Romeo & Juliet.

No, Macbeth's head was cut off.

I actually found that play entertaining.

Yeah, Macduff cuts his head off. And then they blah blah blah, severed head blah blah blah, Malcolm is crowned king.

Way to many M names in Macbeth. What was Mr. S thinking.

i'd fight the weird sisters myself.

as well as mercutio and the phantom (of the opera).

I would never fight Romeo, he beat Tybalt, and Paris. Both of which were said to be very skilled sword-fighters.

The phantom (of the opera) would be too easy. He'd try and run away and scare you by singing some stuff, and might even try to drop a chandelier on you. Pfft, although, Gerard Butler, the guy who played Phantom in the newer version seems like he could kick something...and he's Scottish.

I would take on MacBeth b/c disembowelment only happens once, amirite?

Slept through a lot of it in English way back in the day, that said it's a Scottish play and therefore I dig it.

WAIT!

Silly me, I've already lost 3 quarters of my intestine due to complications at birth! I could definintely take Macbeth now, though I am woman born.

WAIT!

You can still be 1/4 disemboweled, and even though only a quater, it is surely better than two dimes, I always say.

yeah the essay is on Macbeth and Lady Macbeth's relationship and how it involves through-out Act 2 Scene 2. It just a case of piecing some coursework together in an essay, I already have 6/7 useable quotes just need to expand on them.

Throw in one hilariously fake quote, see if the teacher notices it.

I'm sure he would, it's one of those plays/books he reads every year for a 4th year class so I guessing he knows it pretty well.

I never understood how we are suppost to feel sympathy for Macbeth and his tragic downfall. What did he expect?

Yeah there were many M names in that. And Macbeth's servant's name was SEYTON... it thought that was kind of funny.

Did any of you guys watch the movie after reading it? My teacher showed us the movie, she forgot to warn us about the party the witches were throwing. There was a scene with like twenty really really old, saggy, wrinkly naked women. It was very gross.

I found the part where Macbath gets decapitated rather humerous. Because it looked so dodgy

I read that last year. And am now reading Taming of the Shrew, which is a decent story in comparison to Macbeth.

Roman Polanski's movie was terrible, i feel asleep in class whilst watching it. I remember there was this freaky floating dagger thing that looked ridiculous.

As a play i think it is great. But the production i was forced to see was kind of creepy, as this group of 3 fat hairy men with their shirts off blindfolded walked out in a huddled group with this ten year old who was dressed the same way. Cracked up big time.

I'm reading it in Brit Lit right now, and we'll watch the movie at the end of the unit. Best Shakespeare I've read so far.

Take into effect the film was made in the 70's, the technology then wasn't near what it is now, so don't complain about the digital effects. I thought the film did well. We listened to the book on tape in class and I found that to be worse than reading it. I liked the book and all but I don't have a very good attention span, especially in class.
