Hi, I have a question, that hopefully can be answered.

I just recently aquired 2 older speakers from a home stereo system. They have the normal red/black wires on the one end(connected to the speakers) and the other end is just the wire split in two. I was wondering if i could use these speakers for my pa. I was wondering if there was a cable that went from red/black to 1/4....if not, its no big deal, but I'd rather have these speakers not go to waste. Also, im guessing i'd need another power amp...but im pretty sure that i need one, but im not sure if they make a cable like this, so any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

i had some like that all you have to do is buy a normal cable the 1/4 and cut one end off and then get the 2 wires and put them in... its really easy!!!!!!!

i've got my mixer running into the aux. in of a stereo right now.
but yeah, they make adaptors that go from the red/black wires to 1/4" but it's kind of unecessary, you can just buy a 1/4" plug and solder the 2 wires on it.

Are you sure two older speakers from a home stereo are suitable for your PA?

Ehh, i still have to check the olms/watts and what not, and as long as i get a power amp thats compatible, it really shouldnt be a problem...anybody know where i can find the cable (red/black to 1/4th)...because i'd rather not risk setting **** on fire, hah.

Home stereo speakers usually can't handle the power and complexity of the signals that come through a band's PA, at least mine can't, they sound like crap. But you don't know unless you try.
