Hey, managed to accidentaly delete all of my music. there was lots of it and there is no way of getting it back. I am a gutted but am slowly regathering and started again. the odd thing is ever since i deleted the music a load of old files (images, videos) i deleted months ago has come back. I regulary empted the recycle bin so theres no chance that they could have still been there. it has happened in all my folders such as - my pictures, recieved files, bluetooth exchange folder etc..... i have never heard of anything like this before and was wondering if anyone has any clues as to why it would be doing it?
files that i have 'shredded' have gone for ever as normal though.
One thing i will mention is the user log on screen has gone a little strange as i cant change it to the 'quick log on' settings i used to have. thats about the only thing i can think of thats changed.
can any one explain this?
i cant take it to a technition as i am broke.
thanks

very idioticly, i was cutting and pasting and the likes and deleted before i'd pasted. this was days ago though so i doubt i can get it back?
So you cut your entire music collection somehow?

So you cut your entire music collection somehow?
in short yes. couple of thousand songs.
Well the only way I can see how to recover all that is to "obtain" it all somehow.
This is why all my music is stored on a seperate drive.

You will still probably be able to recover most of it. There are programs that do such things. Google.

It may be possible if you use a graverobber, but I have no experince with those programmes so you'd have to ask around.

I've never tried to use it myself actually, but it should be fairly simple. It's a free program, so there's no harm in trying it.

When you delete something from your hard drive you don't actually remove it from the disk. The drive just marks the data you deleted so that when you put more data on it it will write over the "deleted" data. Programs like the one above just go through the hard drive and recover the data that's marked as "deleted".
How much of your music you get back depends on how much new data you've put on there since you deleted the music.

The best way i know is to use Norton's File Recovery Software...but im not sure if you have to have it installed before you deleted the files or not
