There doesn't seem to be much talk about him in here. A friend of mine and I are both pretty big Sonic fans. If he has a game with him that's the first when we'll play when we hang out. Don't know why, but they're just incredibly fun games.
Discuss.
Oh yeah, and listen to the Chemical Plant Zone song. I swear to god everytime I hear it the first thing that comes to my mind is "old Micheal Jackson song." I even had words to it at one time.

Chemical Plant Zone is the 2nd zone in Sonic 2. The level you're thinking of is Oil Plant Zone, I think the 8th zone.

I am such a Sonic fanboy, I can't stand it, I love that little blue hedgehog. It makes me sad that I never properly beat Sonic 2, or even beat it period.

Yeah, I've never fully beaten the second one myself. I get to the final stage, kill metal sonic, and then just die to Dr. Robotnik. I have no clue how to beat him.
I got Sonic and Knuckles for my birthday, a long time ago. I was cool :cool:

I've beat them all. 3rd best game series I can think of off the top of my head (mario and zelda being 1 an 2).

I love sonic. It'd had been awhile since i played the first one, (and by while i mean like...5 years)...just hearing the "SEEEGA" at the beginning brought me back 10 years. Also, the Sonic games have some of the best music around. Each game has it's moments. On Sonic 1, I particularly like the boss music and the music on the first level (Emerald Hill zone?.) On 2 I liked the music they played in the bonus stage. On 3 I especially liked Ice Cap Zone, Sky Sanctuary and ..ughh..what's the other one..Lava Labyrinth?

The Sonic and Knuckles level with the fire/ice place, that was my favorite. I've never beaten the first one either, I never have enough time :-/
I have Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and I enjoy it. :)

I saw Sonic Spinball on that list, that game is amazing. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, a.k.a. Columns for kids, was hard as hell once you got past that Firecracker guy...if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

Is anyone gonna get Sonic Rush for the DS? It's meant to be the best Sonic game in a decade.
Bought the Sonic Mega Collection a few months ago. Damn It brings back memories of simpler times. And i finally beat Sonic 2 without cheats! When i was young, i would always use the supersonic cheat. not anymore. i earn him now!
Rush, eh? The new generation sonics are pretty ho-hum. But i'll keep an eye out...
I still stand by my decision that Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is the greatest platform game ever. The level structures, speed of the game and bosses all felt really great at the time, and still do.
Metropolis boss was a bitch though.

It's what got me into video games. I never had Sonic 1, but Sonic 2 and up I had for the Mega Drive, and I thoroughly loved everyone of them (Except Sonic 3D, that just plain sucked. I mean, the controller didn't even have diagonal buttons!).
But yeah, Sonic 2 is a classic. I always loved the bonus levels, although there was one that was amazingly hard. Still, the earliest I've gotten Super Sonic without cheating was Mystic Cave, so I'm happy with that :)

By the end, it was like I always had 1 ring left, and I always had to go out of my way to catch it every time I got hit. Still though, it was good when I beat him.

That's what made them so fun. I loved like playing with a load of friends and taking it in turns to do levels, and then blaming each other for losing a life.

It'd be awesome to see a featured article on any of the Sonic games, especially the old Megadrive (Genesis) games. There's already two articles up at he moment, so you'll have to wait until one or both of them go down before submitting it, according to the current system.

Sonic got me hooked too. I was barely crawling when I first played it, I didn't put it down for years.

and sonic adventure ranks among my top 5 favorite games of all time.

Ah sonic the man (animal/headgehog) I loved sonic but the sega i had wasnt mine and when the owner took it back i lost my first sonic game *sobs* But now i have sonic2 for gba sonic DX Sonic adventure 2 and Sonic Heros for Gamecube! In the future i will own the gem collections sonic hovrboread the DS sonic game and Shadow the headgehog for Gamecube *claps*!!!

sonic adventure was awesome though, due to the excellent story.

Id wrather hace all sonic and shadow levels though, especialluover tails or crappy treasure hunting knuckles levels. knucles is the collest character i think but id wrather play a sonic style level with him than a stupid searching one. bring back simplicity like what made the earlier games good, speed, and nothing else.

no sega didn't fold, they merely abandoned console making, and are now a software publishing company.
nintendo does often liscence sega games, and sega is one of the few third-party developers that still works with nintedo.
two of video gaming's oldest rivals, have an excellent relationship, but unfortunately, sega is releasing the next sonic on ps3 and xbox 360 only, for now...

They have it for Xbox? I'm getting it then, I have all the Sonic games, it's just that the Genesis is really old and you have to rig it so it works. Plus the controllers don't work so well.

The shadow game looks like a horrible buggy low-poly renderware mess, which is so 'on-rails' that you hardly feel like you're controlling the character. People who have played it tend to confirm this.

I bought Sonic R for the PC a while ago. I remember years ago seeing it advertised and it looked really cool. But it's crap. There's only like 4 or 5 tracks, isn't there?

I was completely hooked as a kid. Beat all the games (1,2,3 + Knuckles that is). I could also draw them pretty well, and recently found out I still could.
I also bought the comics...
Shame the Gems Collection is only on GC :(
I completed 1, 2, 3 and S&K as well. To be fair, the aren't that hard, they are just really fun. Not much extra stuff added on to make the gameplay better, just straightup platform fun. Of course, they ruined it a little with those bubbles on 3 and S&K, but that was OK.
Speaking of which, 3 is being a bitch to me right now. I'm on the level in the fair, and I'm at a dead end. There's like this thing you bounce on, and it makes this tube go up and down, and if you get low enough, there's a way to get through. But it must be impossible, I cannot do it. I'd show you a screenshot, but it's on the Mega Collection.

Me and my friend Downloaded a Genesis Emulator at school and we play the sonic games in form period (20 minute period before lessons were people go to there form room and their tutor registers them; luckily our room is a computer room :) )
I managed to complete Sonic 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles. But we've moved onto Mario World now.
I used to have the original Sonic 1 for the Sega Master system :)

I don't have any DS-owning friends. I guess I could get my bro to buy one- after all, my DS is at home so I dont play it much. But he doesn't like Sonic, so I'd get that and he'd get Mario Kart.

Ahh, you're missing out. 8-player DS Bomberman is unbeatable. I'd probably go with Sonic anyway if I wasn't going to be able to play much multiplayer, but they're both such great games that it comes down to personal preference.
