My birthday was 2 weeks ago but my party was on sunday and I raked in lots of cash. I also got the sabian sig tri top ride and I'm going to get a vault crash from my aunt. I'm probably going to blow half my wastings on an iPod but after that I'm not of what to get. Heres what I have, Sabain b8 Pro Hats, going to get a vault crash, K custom dark china, A ping ride and the sig ride. I'm thinking of getting either a new throne along with the iPod, then just save up the rest until I get enough for a GREAT pair of hats, and be set until I finnally need a new one(yeah its a pun... you got a problem?)(Well its not really a pun)(not a clever one at least)
What would you guys suggest I get?(comments about iPod suckage are not welcome unless they come along with advice!)

Or you could just spend the norm. 200-ish on the iPod.
250-270ish on hats (That can get you HHX Groove Hats, Power Hats, Evo Hats, etc. or A/A Cust. Mastersounds or New Beats, K/Z Dynos etc.)
Then you've got around 100-130 left, and I'd go for another Crash unless you've got another one already. For 118 you can get an 18" AA Medium Thin Crash. Nice buy. Just some suggestions.

I don't want to spend everything on drums I want to save some and I already have a crash that my aunt is getting me. For the hats I'm just going to try out 14'' cymbals, I'm accually thinking of a K custom crash with a Z custom Splash, bet thats gonna be sick
I think you shouldn't, just get a nice pair of really sweet hats, or just get a snare.. the rest you could save up.

600$ is more then enough for an iPod AND an awesome pair of hats.
But if I were you, I'ld buy an awesome pair of hats, a good throne and save up to get an iPod later (or better yet: not at all) :D

I don't want to get everything at once because it will only be that new peice feeling for that limited amount of time. If I get everything at different times for my kit then I'll be happy more times. If I get good hats(300-400) I probly won't have enough for an iPod.

Not paiste sigs sabian sig, my throne is the stock one, so I'm thinking of getting the most expenisive one from musiciansfriend is like 160, has 4 legs and a backrest. I want to the hats but I really want that iPod. I might just stake it out until christmas. If I save up from work it will probably take the same amount of time so what the hey

What's so good about iPods anyways. There are better mp3 players, for cheaper prices at Wal Mart. The way I see it 150 for a good mp3 player, 250-300 for hats. That saves you 150 for a throne if you need one, or a second crash which I would reccommend.

I don't like having 2 crashes I played a set with like 10(including splashes) and I didn't really use them I just forced myself to use more. 1 crash maybe another one in the future one china and 2 rides, thats my big cymbal setup, I ofcourse have my hats and maybe a splash if I find one that I like. I made up my mind though, I'm getting a throne first thing, then I'm going to try out alot of cymbals to use as hats hopefully I'll find a good combo.

I would really advise against that. Buying a pair of hats, which are made to be used as hats, is the best idea. New Beats would be the best bet, among an assortment of other Zildjians and Sabians.

As I said I'm going to try them out I forgot who said it but hihats are just names given, who knows if crashes and splashes will sound better then the hats, and maybe the top one will be a crash and the bottom a hat, I'll see what I'll do

Crashes arnt designed to give a good hihat sound - hihats are. if you want to get a pair that you can stick with for a while, get something like A newbeats or Acustom mastersounds for a good objective sound that you wont get bored with.

I'm getting alot of this so I guess I'll just go with the K Hihats, Ahmir Thomson uses crashes as hats, and so does Marco Minemin though. So now I don't know. I'll try it out see what sounds better, thats ultimately the best way to find out
Edit: Minimen has a pair of splashes as hats, I think their secondary that he uses only for opening/closing

i wouldn't waste a lot on a brilliant throne, buy the ipod (if you want an ipod)and then save to get some amazing hats. Hats i would class as far more important than an awesome throne. Better yet get a creative :thumb:

haha, I was just kidding in the previous post, just so you know :D
But refering to the quote...
I'm gonna advice you to go to a music store and try out different thrones before ordering one.
It's not because it's the most expensive that your as$ will like that throne!
Sounds silly, but it's true, believe me. When I went out to buy a throne, I must have tried out like a dozen. For me, the tractor seats and backrests really didn't feel comfortable. Eventually I went with a plain old simple round one, a Roadster to be exact. A good thick and soft throne on wich I feel comfortable and very balanced.
I even think that in a way, the throne is one of the most important parts of your drums and maybe even the part that needs most attention. Because in order to drum in a comfy way, you have to be able to sit comfy in the first place!!
You might even find out that the best seat for you is actually a 70$ one! Who knows?
It is a part that deserves investment as well though, so since you have enough budget, don't look at the price AT ALL. Look for durability and quality and above all, comfort. And that is something you can't conclude from a price tag, you have to experience it first hand.

I would buy a throne, porkpie. Then a 10" K splash, since you said you wanted a z custom one this one will blow it out of the water. This way you don't spend all your money on only 2 things. Or you can buy a throne and a pair of really nice pair of hats then get a splash after. I would personally do that and then buy a splash later. You probally won't end up spending all your money on either options, depending on the throne you buy.
