Opinions, please!

OK, I just received my 6.5x14 brass snare shell for my next project. I've pretty much decided my specs other than:

Is a 10 lug snare much better than an 8 lug snare? Or, is it worth the difference in what it will cost me and the extra drilling headaches to have 10 lugs instead of 8? Thanks for your opinions. :thumb:

BTW, I'm going with chrome sculptured tube lugs and chrome hoops, etc.

10 lugs will give the snare more of a tuning range. I would go for the 10 lug solely because it is more versitile with it's larger range.

You don't get as many overtones with a 10 lug drum, theres more metal on the shell, more even tension ect ect... If you like that then go for it. I've played on alot of drums with 10 lugs and 8 lugs, to me the 8 lug is enough and i've always been a fan of wild overtones.
