instead of getting some really awesome high end bass you want a really cheap bass just to have it? I have my eye on an Ibanez GAXB150 (http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=GAXB150&color=1) in blue...i just love the simple yet awesome design. and she only goes for like $170 USD. Anyone ever get the same feeling?

Sounds liek a smart idea...if it's cheap and it looks cool, just mod it until it sounds cool. But I find that a lot of the low-end ibanez's still sound good.

I've never tried that particular one.

I've done it.
You get the "I got a new bass feeling" without the full price. Though I recommend the GSR200- I got in in red and put all gold hardware on, and my friend (who I was in a 2 bass, cello, piano and drums with at the time) got it in black, and put a tremolo on it and stuff. It was cool.

ive played em, their pretty dumb imo, but i just think that because my friend bought one from his friend, who had turned it fretless. The friend that bought it put the frets back in, but didnt sand them right, and had no idea about the bowed neck he had from leaving the strings off so long. He put about $0.50 under each bridge piece in change just so it wouldnt buzz.

See my only bass IS a cheap bass so i never get that feeling . I'm going to mod the hell out of it once i get some money though.

Yeah, I know the feeling. That's why I bought my Peavey Fury for $170 (CND).

So far, I've swapped out the stock P-pup fora DiMarzio Model P and had a DiMarzio Model J routed into the bridge position.

i get that feeling quite a bit but it is not a matter of choice, it is a matter of broke as a mother****** and not being able to afford and high end bass:thumb:

+ that bass fell off the ugly tree

you do get that 'i got a new bass' feeling.... but it's better when the bass is more expensive...... or so i assume, considering my most expensive bass was $250 w/ gig bag...

still! haha...

its okay i think it would be better modded and a diffrent color

not to mention a pickgaurd and a diffrent body

Maybe even a diffrent neck the strings can stay tho

Most definately. I've considered getting one of those nameless bassed off of eBay just because. But once they go above $10 it defeats the purpose for me. I really want a pink p bass copy.

No, i honestly never really get that feeling. Even if a cheap bass looks cool, i have no desire to buy it, even though i could mod it.

*i find the ibanez quite ugly btw

I want to get a bass off this page... Either the natural jazz bass or a fretless.

http://www.rondomusic.net/BassLeft.html

Edit: Oh yes, I'm left-handed... There's links at the top to right handed basses/guitars.

I wanted to get a fretless and rig it up with something over the bridge to make it sound muted... almost like an upright.

Tapewounds are like flat wounds, but much more _____. (flatwoundish?) They're extra thumpy, extra warm, and extra smooth. They feel great when playing them and aren't very rough on your fingers.

Yes, but usually it's just gas. *Rimshot.*

I've like a few cheap basses, but nothing really to the effect where I wanted to jump on it.

No, I've never had that feeling to just buy a cheap bass before. :(

I, probably, would see it more as money wasted in the long run than I would anything else.

And that bass is hideous.

Ya I really don't care if its ugly or not I just wanna have it and like experiment with it. Don't exactly wanna put a pick guard on it cause I hate pickguards. But ya I think when I get a summer job I'll buy this. I just really like the body style and the one pick up, its like a hoppus sig but better lol
