Yep, im sure some of you know about my whole cab search... been trying to sell my Peavey TKO 115 to benefit my buying of a cabinet... well, i havent sold it but ive nearly made enough money from working to pay for one... and i've been after an Avatar 4x10 kappa pro... i hear great things about it. But im just kinda browsing around to see what all my options are? here's a little info (because i know you'll ask)..
I Play any rock really.. i like metal sometimes, other times i prefer some light alternative... im not really a pick player.... do alot of slap n' pop for fun.. but mostly finger style in my band.
price range is.. $400-500. i MIGHT be able to get more for x-mas and my b-day comin up, but i'd really like to take that money and put it towards a 6-stringer (curbow or a BTB if i get the money)
and im ALL for used gear. but it MUST be a 4 ohm cabinet!.. well, i suppose it doesnt HAVE to be, but i'd like full use of my head (ampeg b2r) and i cant lug around 2 sep. cab's. I've searched ebay alot latly.. dont tell me 'go out and play it for yourself'.. 1) my license is suspended and i cant make it to any good music store unless my friend and i are both off work AND he has gas... 2) i want to know your opinions about what you think is good.. and give reason's.
i've been really look at 410's mostly.. but it needs to have good low end.. but, why cant you ever find a 4 ohm 410!?
*Sigh*
sorry for long post.....

Get two 8 ohm avatar cabs. Bridged, double 8 ohm cabs make for a much efficient rig as opposed to your standard 4 ohm.
Marshall VBC412, I have heard nothing but good stuff about them.

like i said, i cant lug around 2 cab's + everything else. 1) we're short a driver *me* and 2) it wouldn't all fit in my car anyway's... If i had a bigger vehical, i would get an 8 ohm and buy another later down the line...

if you're mainly a fingerstyle player I would look at the 410 Neo instead of the Kappa Pro. The Pro is so bottom heavy that your fingerstyle lines won't have much, if any, definition to them at all.

i'll keep that in mind.. it's cheaper too, so, yay.
maybe i should add, that i change my tone alot.. i dont have 1 general tone setting.. sometimes i do a trebley metal tone, other times a real heavy bottom end.. kinda depends on my feeling.. so i need my rig to be just as versatile..

You can get Avatar cabs in four or eight ohms. Just let Dave know- he's like, the coolest dude ever.

AND since the Neo has a longer xMax (maximum mechanical extrusion) than the Pro it could potentially produce more volume :naughty:

^so what makes the pro more expensive then? if the neo seems better (From what your saying that is)

i guess u cant find too many 4 ohm cabs cause 8 ohm speakers offer 'better sound quality' because the resistance of the speaker cable isnt that much important...
(dont ask me for details - i forgot them)

i just kind of assumed that most rigs are a 4x10 and 1x15... 8x10's come in 4 ohm's... 1x15's and 4x10's are hard to find in a 4 ohm though.....
:upset: it's irritating...

If you watch prices on Ebay for a while, you might be able to find a Mesa/Boogie Powerhouse 4x10 for about $500.

Well... I think you'd better offer up some details, because your explanation is backwards. There's less resistance in a 4 ohm cabinet than an 8 ohm.

^ yeah i thought the same thing. i wasn't sure though, cause im not extremely knowledgeable on this stuff...
Chaos - that'd be nice but + shipping would be over my price range... locally though, :naughty:
but ive never seen a mesa in person...
