Anyone know what these guys use? I can't find anything on them. Im pritty sure that the Hawthorn bassist uses Ampeg [I saw them at a concert on tv saw the amp] and I don't think the Hawthorn bassist uses a pick and I saw one pick of him with a stingray and a p bass. But thats all I have, any answers will help.
Pick or not
String
Guitar
Amp
ect.

Jeph Howard from the Used uses his fingers and a ampeg amp with the treble in max and a light overdrive sometimes.. his main bass is a 4 string fender precision bass american deluxe.. white with rosewood fretboard..

do you mean hawthorne heights?
the bassist uses a music man sting ray i assume, i saw them live but i wasnt paying attention to him. and an ampeg 810.
you probably actually saw me in the audience, when i saw them it was at a small venue and mtv2 taped it, then i realized that hawthorne heights is really bad.
oh he uses a pick as well

i find it hysterical that they use their backup vocalist to do all the screams, as if the singer is too busy. Plus their songs sound predictable.
anywho, i cant find any info on the bass players rig other than whats already been said (MM, fender P, and pick)

...why? perhaps the singer doesnt have a good scream. i know alot of bands that do that. I cant scream, so i leave it up to my bands vocalist.

And the fact that they have 3 guitarists and a bassist and they all quadrupal up on the same part. Not very resourceful.

Have you really listened to the band? They use the effect of three guitars very well. They're constantly playing in harmony. Same thing with the vocals, there's a lead singer, one of the guitarists does the screams, and the bassist sings backup.
On the hawthorned Heights record, it's definately a Stingray tone, but all of the videos I've seen of them live, he's been playing a P-bass.

Perhaps you're mistaking him with the guitarist who doesn't do any vocals? I an assure you, he sings backup.
Proof. (http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/hawthorne_heights/audvid.jhtml) Go and watch some of the live videos, if you still don't belive me. :thumb:
Man, it's wierd....I'm defending a band that I don't really like that much. :amaze: Oh wellls, whaddyagonna do?

Well. I hate Hawthorne Heights. Stopped by their show at Warped though, cuz nobody else was playing, and all the girls were a the HH show (lol).
Anyways, I was kinda impressed with the singer dude live, seemed like he WAS the band with everyone else just hanging out rying to look cool. The one guitarist played like half the show with his hand over the neck. I didn't know you could power chord like that. I only do it to get crazy harmonics.

Yea I used to hate both of the bands. But latly im just more into the whole music not how difficult it sounds or how much theory they must know if it sounds good then it IS good. Sometimes the simplest bass parts soun soo cool like in I cought fire by the used.
BTW thanks for all the help.

Yeah...closed because this thread went WAY off topic.
And whoever said The Cure and The Smiths are emo:  :p! Come on, learn what emo is. Stop by the emo/hardcore forum every once in a while, guys.
