What do you own now in terms of gear, what do you play? The P will be so very versatile, so likely NO acoustic is going to complete with it, but do tell.

i wouldn't take either but **** the acoustic.

the P would give you more bass for the buck.. But is it an acoustic bass guitar or an uprigt, quite a big difference.. (I guess it is a bass guitar)

I wouldn't get either, but with those choices, the P bass.

Out of those two choices I'd have to say a Warwick Corvette.

Try $250 less. You can get any dealer to sell it for at least $900 (I got mine from a non-dealer for $850) as opposed to the $1100 Musician's Friend has them for.

He's in New Zealand, so everything's probably gone confusing

Look for warwicks, really.

I mean, Fenders are nice and all, and I also like P's over Jazz, but just go to the guitars near your area and research what type of bass do you like.

I wouldn't reccomend an acoustic bass. Don't get me wrong, it's easier for me to like an acoustic song than a regular one, but at the end, you will be more satisfied with an electric and their versatility than an acoustic.

Warwick corvettes always cost like around 1 thousand dollars.

go with the p bass but get one that has the really bad *** j humbucker in the bridge

i played one with i think 3 pickups (a pbass and 2 jazz humbuckers in a p j j set up) and it was a five sting and i was playing it through this really cool hartke tube amp with and 8 X 10 cabinet...it was such a ill set up. the low b was just so nice and the humbucker added so much tone

out of them id get the p bass but i would get either of them.

P bass, if it was an upright it would be a different matter though. I would kill for an upright.

i'd go warwick (like others said)...... i'm not a fender kind of guy though.

whats your entire rig? cause IMO, i'd spend 1/2 for a new bass and 1/2 for a new amp if you need one...... and you can get an acoustic for about $500 USD.. look into Micheal Kelly basses, they're fantastic..... i really want one.

I would go with a Schecter of some sort.

Schecter > Warwick

amirite.

I'd go with the P Bass out of those two choices, assuming that you already have a nice amp. I wouldn't spend more than four or five hundred on an acoustic bass, they're just not versatile enough for me to justify spending more than that on one. I love my Alvarez acoustic though.

I'd get the P I were you but only if it is P/J. I hate just P pups.

Oh and what area of NZ are you from?

I guess it depends on how happy you are with your current bass.
I'm happy with where I'm at with my 2 solid body basses, so right now I'd kill for an acoustic, just so I can have the ability to jam pretty much when and wherever I want.

funkyhoney
11-07-2005, 12:52 AM
i completely agree, the only real reason i'd get an acoustic id if i wanted to be able to play anywhere and everywhere.

I feel the same, but I read the entire situation, and you being located in New Zealand and all makes things quite difficult.

I'd go with the P, I suppose.
I really hate P basses.

Its nu zeelund dude. Your looking at 1000 bucks for a MIM and at least 3800 for a Warwick Thumb BO standard. And thats ****ing australia!! Zeelund will be a bit more expensive than that.

"To go sheehan on it"- means to put a humbucker in the neck position of the bass and put in a second output for it.
