The Daily Upload: November Edition

I was debating whether or not to continue with this thread. Needless to say, I decided to try to keep it going once more.

If anyone doesn't know what this thread is, basically I'll be uploading an album a day and sending it out to my mailing list.

If you registered for September or October, don't register again here. I will be keeping the mailing list.

You are allowed to make requests but I can't guarentee I'll upload it.

2. "The Blue Album" is not labelled. All songs are Track 01, Track 02, etc. I apologize but I did this from school and did not realize the tracks were not labelled.

Try powerarchiver. It works pretty good, but Im not sure if it will work on a Mac.

I usually upload the same album three times for 3 links. It usually takes me about 15 minutes. However, the amount of people using it or the size of the file will affect the speed.

Choose a cd or two to upload via YSI. Upload the album 2 or three times so the album could be downloaded more and send the links to Neurotoxin. He does the rest.

also, to whoever wanted a stratovarius album, i can help you out with that....ill get it uploaded within a few days, the album i have is fourth dimension, and i havent listened to all of it yet, but the first few songs are great.
also, neuro, there is no way im allowing you to upload either blackwater park, or images and words....they are sooooo my uploads (big grin)..ie. my dibs for them.
also, does anybody want, spectrum by billy cobham, the worlds needs a hero by megadeth, california by mr.bungle, blood sugar sex magik, by RHCP?

I was uploading Dragonforce - Inhuman Rampage for like 5 hours last night, then my computer crashed. And thats just one copy.

I'll guess I'll have to leave three windows uploading overnight. Might take like 24 hours though.

Plus I'm on a 3gig monthly bandwidth limit (but I've not taken any notice of that so far.

since they are all uploadng at once, it might take 24 hours, possibly more for them to finish, however i will send them to Neuro as soon as they are done.
ive also got more albums that arent on the computer yet that i will try to upload.

Awesome stuff, downloading it all.

And I'm so annoyed at my internet. As I was downloading from BitTorrent I realised that I had only uploaded about 60mb in 7 hours. So I guess I'll never be able actually upload that Dragonforce album, which is annoying because I really wanted to share that.

How do you upload an entire album? I can only do one song at a time, but I'd like to get some Vai out there.

Zip the file that contains the album, then go to YSI and click once on the zipped folder. Then click ok. It will then upload, the album, not individual songs.

I hope that helps.

Just Right Click the albums folder that you want to send, and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) Folder. Then when your on YSI, the zipped folder will appear in with the rest of the files and you will be able to upload it.

YSI won't work properly for me lately. almost everything i d/l just stops about half way through. i haven't been able to download any of these albums in about a week, and i just had the same problem with a backing track .zip in the guitar forum.

anyway, if anyone's interested, i might upload either Dave Weiner's Shove the Sun Aside (guitarist in Vai's band for those who don't know him), or Paul Gilbert's Paul the Young Dude (only album of his i have).

I don't want to be picky, but if you possible, could you guys not use .m4a files? from what I've heard they don't work on most Mp3 players and Windows Media doesn't recognize them.

/I'm fine with m4a files I just know people have had problems in the past with them

When you upload an album, you should try to include one megaupload link. That way people can download of YSI for a week (which is preferred), but then those who miss it during the week can download from megaupload, as those links last for at least 30 days. Only after 30 days of inactivity will the link finally expire.

Could I ask a big favor?

I thinkt he daily upload is amazing, I get a lot of the albums and it turns me on to many new artists. One dissapointment I've ran into a few times is a whole album of M4a's. I use Windows Media Player, which isn't compatable with M4a's, only Real Player is. I've yet to find a converter, so this leaves me out of a lot of albums, like today's Dream Theater or At The Gates album.

I feel bad, both of those were my uploads:upset: . I hope you find a way to solve this problem.

So many albums...not sure what to listen to first. I hope this is the biggest problem I will face today.

Here's a quick idea of Lumsk - Troll, since I didn't write anything about the actual album when I sent it to Neuro.

In a nutshell, it's folk metal, with an emphasis on folk. A female vocalist takes the spotlight, but on some tracks a harsher male vocalist steps in. It's largely mellow music; there's use of a violin and a piano.

This is a really quick, rough description off the top of my head, but I want you guys to hear this album.

Great avant garde band, I know some people around on MX know about them but they're still not very well known.

I'm going to try to get lesser known bands I like out through Neuro's system. I'll be uploading MP3's until I'm given a reason not to. I like Ogg Vorbis better, but distributing oggs isn't practical yet. :/

Yeah:lol: , but its on the Marshall Plan and how it affected the Cold War. Not much killing over a plan to reboost the European economy.

I think the point would be to dl them all and give them a listen. People took time out of their day to upload albums they liked. At the very least you should dl them, decide if u like them and delete them if you don't. I downloaded a bunch I didn't think I would like, and it turns out I was wrong. if you like them, upload something of your own.

Thats what I do. I like YSI better. The downloads seem to work faster. The only drawback is that YSI does not last as long as megaupload.

I don't mind using megaupload though, it actually seems to upload faster for me, although I realise it's a slower download for the others. It's strange. :confused:

Ok guys, im uploading 2 albums now. Its not Muse, It's Circle Of Dust. If you haven't heard of them (him), Im not suprised. It is Industrial-metal, with an emphasis on metal. I have loved this stuff for at least 10 years now, and I hope to make some of you guys fans of this stuff. Even if you don't like "industrial", check it out anyway. The guy writes killer riffs on the guitar and has an amazing voice. Although in the same vein as NiN, It's not nearly as minimalist as Trent is.

I am uploading 2 albums, from different time periods. The earlier album is called Metamorphosis, and is basically remixes of his own music, under Circle Of Dust and Brainchild, and remixing some Living Sacrifice tunes. This album is a crazy concoction of sounds. If you know who Living sacrifice is, then you know they are a christian-death band, if that is possible.
However This music is not 'christian' by any stretch of the word, I am an athiest and love it. I promise there is no jesus stuff in there. Sorta like Chevelle. Not like Creed. Obtuse and vague, allowing for your own interpretation of the lyrics. By the way this album has become somewhat a collecters item. They just reissued it and only 1000 are made. This one Im sending is the original.

The other album is Circle Of Dust, Disengage. As the title suggests, this is the swan song for CoD. I can't say enough about this record. Atmospherically heavy, and ahead of its time. This album contains 16 songs, 10 originals and some remixes done by friends of the artist.

Klay Scott has been involved with a lot of well known artists, producing albums and songs for others, some you've heard of (Prong) and many you haven't. Please, even if you think you hate Industrial, give this a chance. I am positive you're gonna dig this stuff.

edit: http://www.celldweller.com/ there is klay's newer stuff if interested. I havent liked what Ive heard, but check it out. this is NOT what circle of dust sounds like, btw, although its still the same artist so you might get a tiny idea.
