So my grandma had an old computer just laying around, and I asked if I could have it. She said yes... blah blah blah. So now, I have it in my room, it does not get internet. So is it possible to transport Audacity or Kristal to that computer from this computer (that I currently have it on). And also, the old computer in my room does not have a CD burner, so is it possible to transport WAV files via a floppy disc to a computer that has a CD burner.

yes. rip audicity to a CDR disk and then upload it onto the other computer
its depends how many MB's the song is if it matches up with the disk you can transfer it that way

Okay, for the record, it should be possible to get the install file for Audacity onto a 3.14 MB floppy disk. If I remember correctly that whole install file weighs in at something like 2.1 MB (dont' quote, check the actual filesize when you download it).

I don't know Kristal off-hand, but my guess is that it's too large for a floppy disk. However, you may have other options. If both computers have a USB port, you can get a 128MB USB flash drive for around $20 if you look hard enough. That'll be large enough to move some stuff around.

.wav files are also very large. They're roughly 10.3 MB per minute of audio at CD quality, which is way too big for a floppy drive. The USB option comes back into play here, but you'll still probably be moving stuff around a lot more than you will working on things, since that's really only ~11 minutes of music unless you spend some more money. I guess the question is, can you still buy Iomega zip drives? They usually have 100-250MB disks, and if they're still around, I'm betting they're super cheap. That might be your best solution.

oh yeah, I forgot about memory sticks... but I forget if the older computer has a USB or not...

If you could hook up a network bewteen the 2 computers, you could basically click and drag all needed files back and forth continuously.

if that computer is that old.. does it handle recording very well?

Most computers that have a P2 or above in them can handle recording a single input stream.

When you start playing back multiple tracks, and recording a seperate track to them, that's when stuff starts to break.
