Pacific CX 5 peice drum set
Company: Pacific Drums and Percussion by Drum Workshop.
Shell Sizes: 8x10" , 9x12", 12x14", 5x14"snare and 22x18"bassdrum. pacific also makes CX add on toms in 7x8" and 14x16".
Features:
F.A.S.T. tom sizes. which i beleive means Fundamentally.Accurately.Sized.Toms. Its price for the shell pack is roughly $650 U.S. currency. The shells are 8-ply all maple.
It comes in 5 different Wrap colors: Black Oynx, White Onyx, Blue Onyx, Royal Onyx and Silver sparkle.
When I first found out about the Pacific CX i thought it would be crap because of the EZ series drums, but i was completely wrong. These drums are great for the price and wont let you down. I admit they dont sound as good with stock heads but slap some G2 over G1 resos on the toms and ambs on the snare as well as PS3 on the bassdrum and you're set. I cant beleive the sound I got out of these things, they are so great. An intermediate kit that projects really well unmiced and sounds great too. I do not Muffle my bass and that thing is Nice and Boomy and projects great. The Drums are just all around amazing for the price. The toms cut and blend with the music. When I get my new kit I am still keeping this kit as a Gig and practice set because it holds up well....looks great, and most importantly sounds great and is great.

I have this kit. I agree the pacific stock heads are awful, change them out as soon as possible. But once you get some good heads on there the kit sounds great. The finish is really nice too for a wrap.

Being the owner of a Pacific LX, I would like to add my criticisms for the kit. So you all know, CX, MX, LX, and LXE are all the exact same drum, the only thing that differs is the finish, hence the price.
I find that the pacific tom hardware is rather dissapointing. Definately not pro-quality material. The L rods are thin, and the tom mounts sometimes have trouble holding the drums in place. Though I find the biggest discomfort in the memory lock. I have not been able to get my tom mount and memory lock grooves to snap together. Hence, the ANGLE of the tom is not 'put into memory' since it will just fall down to the lock, and pivot on it. As you can infer from my last statement, the height is however 'memorized'.
I replaced my tom mounts and L Rods with DW hardware. I would recommend replacing the tom hardware with a more professional model. When you can comfortably slip your toms on and off into a solid memory lock in less than a few seconds, this kit really starts rockin.

I think that they are great kit's.
But the only major issue I have with them is that in that in the shell packs, that there is no option of a floor tom with legs.

The L rods are thin...
They are the same size as DW.

^^^ so?
if you had a plastic L rod, and a titanium L rod, same thickness.....would your logic still stand?
DW's is obviously superior.

It looks like a nice set. I've yet to try one out. I'll keep my eye out. Thanks for putting in the time for a review :thumb:

as everyone else says, the pacific heads suck. Don't use them. Not worth the time. Overall, i love the CX. At first when i got it (christmas present), i was dissappointed cuz i wanted a ludwig set, but the CX rocks, with good tom sizes, and an overall sound that rocks. No complaints

I have a problem with my CX's, wanted to see if anyone else is haveing similar ones. On all of the toms where the wrap comes together, the bearing edge is not level, and the drums are out of round. I didn't notice this at first when I put coated Ambassadors on, but whe I put the pinstripes on, it's obvious. Now none of the heads will seat properly, and I get a buzzing sound. I had the buzzing sound before, but I always thought is was me and my lack of tuning ability. Anyway, I'm heading up to GC today, I purchased the extended warranty, and I belive I'm just gonna swap them out of a set of MX'x instead. No wrap, no problems!

I have one of these too, but it's in a wine red, not any of those other colors. I figure it's older because the stamp on the shells looks different than the newer ones too. Does anyone know anything about these older CX series drums, or want to buy it from me? I'm really a guitarist that made a failed attempt into the drum realm.
