my favorite anthrax album would have to be persistence of time. scott ian is riff meister supremo. in my opinion joey belladonna is better than john bush as he has more vocal capabilities and i just like his voice better.

I wonder if this is flame bait, But personally I hate the belladonna. I Loved sound of white noise. I thought it was the most original album the band ever made. I can appreciate the older stuff, and Persistance is a good record, but SOWN is way ahead of the pack. IMO they could have taken that sound onto bigger things than the band is doing now (reliving the past). ah well.

I know where you're coming from. Belladonna did have that almost boyish tone when he started out, but he definitely matured when State of Euphoria came out.

And yeah, SOWN is excellent, but I still think POT is their best. Lyrically, is heaps above SOWN, but musically it's hard to compare them. BUt then again SOWN is loaded with many songs that are better than many Belladonna-era songs.

It's hard to give a good list, since they have two different eras that sound totally different from each other. But here's some recommations.

Belladonna era:

Caught in a Mosh
Efilnikufesin
Indians
Be All, End All
Finale
Time
Keep it in the Family
In My World
One Man Stands
Discharge

Bush era:

Potters Field
Hy Pro Glo
1000 Points of Hate
This is Not an Exit
Fueled
Drop the Ball
Inside Out
What Doesn't Die
Safe Home
Cadillac Rock Box

Why are you talking about Attack Of The Killer B's like it was a full Rap album? It had 2 rap songs on it.

Scott Ian is a great Rhythm Guitarist, but he's not the best. Fistful of Metal or State of Euphoria is my favorite album. State of Euphoria is horribly underrated.

Persistance of Time is my favorite. It showcases a faster, tighter, more focused Anthrax and also the fact that they left thier 'happy" sound in the dust.

Frank Bello = Very Underrated bassist. Probably the best bassist out of the "Big Four"......well, Ellefson is pretty damn awesome, but didn't write his own basslines.

Yes, Bello is BETTER than Cliff. Cliff is Exremely overrated and Tom Araya never did anything special.

Persistence of Time.

Musically, it's the best they've recorded. They're never sounded angrier and more pissed off on a musical stance, ever. Top notch guitar work, fantastic drums job by Charlie, and Belladonna's best vocal performance. Even the bass stands out on this; just listen to Got the Time. To top it all off, it has an incredible production job by Mark Dodson.

I think it's lyrically their best, too. I love the whole theme on racism, political correctness, and tolerance; something you hardly ever see in a metal band, with the exception of some grind.

And, I just love the feel of the album. It feels very East Coast, very New York. It's hard to explain, but it's the atmosphere of Persistence of Time which is also what makes it my favorite album.

I saw them a couple of times in the late 80s/early 90s and I have to say Bush was 100X better than that mop headed idiot Belladonna.

But none could match Turbin! The first album is class!
