Right, so there's a free show coming up to my uni this Friday. It's being sponsored by one of the organizations here.

Mind you, I've never been to a show before, and I'm not exactly positive that I want to make this show my first one. It's going to be held in an extremely small room (because my campus is small lolz), and I'm not sure I can handle the inevitable swarm of people that will flock to this thing.

At any rate, the four bands playing are:

Broken Sunday (opener)
Lukas D (who the **** are these guys?)
Never Say Never (who the **** are these guys?)
Lucky Boys Confusion (headliner)

The only band I've heard is LBC, and one or two songs from Broken Sunday.

Basically, I want you to check all that apply when the poll comes up, please.

Also, discuss your first show experience.

Also, if you tell me to go, tell me what my expectations should be going in.

Alternatively, if you tell me not to go, tell me a story about a show you went to that sucked.

Also, discuss how much you like pizza. What do you usually order on it? I'm content with any form of meat... pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, etc. It's all gravy, big baby :nau:

I don't know any of those bands, but I say go. Especially as it's free. Going to a first show isn't like losing your virginity or something - it doesn't matter if it's not great. It's good to try and go to lots of shows... lots will be good and some will be poor - that's just the way it is.

My first show was Less Than Jake in Sheffield a few years ago. It was awesome. Being in a pit of that grade for your first time is pretty scary though...

And pizza is good. I like it with lots of meat, and mushrooms.

Jom, you haven't been to a show and you're what? 19/20? Go.

Expect to have good times and start trying to go to shows more :p

Live shows are the best, even if you don't know the bands.

It'd be cool even if you haven't heard much from the bands. Just being at a gig is cool.

I like how I made this a multiple choice poll and everyone is selecting only one option out of the ten. Hahaha.

I dunno man, I might never go to a show and just be happy with thousands of albums until I die.

You should go Jom. My first show was at a small place, there was exactly 215 people. It was one of the best nights I've had this year.

I haven't heard any of the bands up there either, but like the others said, its free, and live shows are fun. So I think you should go.

Trust me, a live experience is far better than listening to an album. You get to see the bands play, maybe even meet them afterwards if you hang around the back.

Go, especially if it is free. The first band you see doesn't have to be a majorly mainstream or awesome band, but you definately should go to a live show.

I suggest going just because shows are awesome.

I can't say I've ever actually listened to any of the bands, but I'm sure it will be fun. Plus it's free...

As well as that, you might end up really liking one of the bands. A lot of shows I've been to, the support acts were really good and I've found out about a fair share of good music that way

I've found a lot of great bands from going to shows as well. I've actually never seen a bad show either. I've seen a few bad bands, but I almost always have a great time when I go to shows.

I'm going to see Hot Hot Heat next week on a recommendation. I don't listen to them much, but a couple people have told me they're awesome live, so I'm checking them out.

Thanks, everyone :)

I do want to ask Laura why she was so negative in the entire poll, though, and offered no explanation in the form of a post :(

Why not? It will be fun. And best of all, its free, so even if its not.. you don't feel conned.

Just go, we often get alot of smaller bands liek that paying around here, some fothem are good, some suck, but at the end of the day it's a night out with your friends, and plus it's free. Also, my first show was one of those type of things, and Million Dead played there. A couple of months later they started getting played on MTV2 and stuff. So if ny of those bands become big, you can be like 'oh yeah, I saw them when they were starting out, I'm hXc '
