if i were to get a custom drmset from conaway or some place like that would it sound as good as a 3005? I know the finish may not look as good but id be getting wraps so it would be all good. If i got a custom it would be a little more but i willing to pay it as long as it sounds good? anyone know?

just get the 3005. you get a guaranteed product plus it comes with hardware and stands and what not.

Is there anything particular you want to merit getting a custom set? If a 3005 caters to all your needs, don't worry about quality, it's absolutely going to be fine.

There's no real point in a custom unless your looking for that perticular sound....

Just go for a 3005

IMO it depends. I am looking for a new kit for this summer, and custom is leading the way. Theres no way I can get a 20x20 bass, with an Optimount system from Sonor, or any other company for that matter.

you always mention you have 3005s. but ive never seen any pics/ sound clips of them. if i got a 3005 that would be the first thing id be doing, actully well second after playing them for 3 straight months.

3005 blows Conaway out of the water, man.

I'd say 3005's simply because I don't think you have presented a reasonable point in buying a custom set of drums instead of the 3005's. Say you bought a keller kit from Conaway instead of a set of 3005's...yes it would sound just as good(possibly better)depending on tuning, but if that's the only reason you wanted to pay more for a custom set, I'd have to say skip it and just save yourself the time, money, and trouble to go through the motions of getting a custom kit and just buy the 3005's.

That's a beastly bass. Are you sure you want one that deep? 18" would be the deepest I'd go for a 20" diameter.

20x20's sound sexy! especially a 10 ply one, I would consider buying a Sonor kit if you could customize your sizes, I don't like any of the preset sizes at all and I only need 2 toms and a bass drum(possibly another floor tom).

3005s. Period.

My local store just got a new 3005 in blue sparkle, one of a handful made. That is one pretty looking set, and it sounds great even with the cheap heads.

I would go for the 3005's...but also look into Mapex Pro M's...just as good and about the same price...just a thought.
