"Sex Pistols Slam Simple Plan

The NY Post published an interesting quote from Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols. Jones, who the newspaper says is a music editor at Stuff Magazine, was talking about his distaste for some of the radio friendly punk rock on the airwaves today.

"Knuckleheads like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are told what to do, and they do it, you know? It's a shame that they're disguising it under the word 'punk.' It's a bunch of [bleeping] [bleep], you know?"

Thanks for the info to PunkBands.com."

Sex pistols disgused themselves under the word Punk. penny pinchers.

i just wanted to start my own thread so it could get closed.

The Sex Pistols were as punk as punk gets. Which makes no sense, but there 'ya go.

They played punk music, and they thought they had the punk mentality, but they really didn't

It was 1976. What was the "punk mentality" then?

The Sex Pistols are punk, but not punk enough to have anything to say about Simple Plan.

There are a rare number of bands that actually stick to what they preach. Sex Pistols just happen to be easier to slam for it because of how popular they are.

But, yes they are a punk band. As much as any other 77 band.

also not punk enough to think that Simple Plan is considered punk.

True, but at the same time people who aren't punk at all know Simple Plan isn't punk. It upsets me that people even mention Simple Plan and Good Charlotte anymore, their corporate poppiness is such a given at this point.

because there is no grounds for discussion once "thorg the eater" has bleched his disapproval, and no opinion other than his could be considered to be correct because he is teh real punx!

Sex Pistols were a punk band, however, not even close to the best of the time. Wayy overrated. SOme of their songs are decent to listen to; Holidays in the Sun, God Save the Queen. Sid Vicious was an idiot and idiots still follow him. That is probably one reason so many people hate them.
