You do just that. Get a 1/8" to 1/4" cable and plug that into your microphone input.

Why would you want to? The sound will be horrible! Get yourself a Bass Pod (or similar) and then record from that. :thumb:

I record all of my tracks direct line in, and they sound pretty decent to me.

Yep, mines direct and it sounds fine.

I've also found that I can get a decent basic bass sound through my line in. Guitars and vocs(anything with lots of highs) sounds terrible through my soundcard, though.
i run a cable from my bass into my BP200, then into my computer. it works quite well, although it doesn't handle the low end that great, it still sounds pretty good.

^^^ Have you checked the control panel, so the microphone isn't muted?

I had the same problem. I had blown my sound card as I had my bass turned up too much when recording. If you cant find any config or software problems, then this is most likely what has happened. New soundcard?

I use the XLR out on my amp head, and it sounds fine. I just realized today though that it sounds better once i export it than it does in my actual recording program, which, that is Audacity. At least's how it seems to me.

i do that all the time for my solo work... the cheapest quickest thing you can do is just buy a reducer, like many have mentioned before, if you do buy a reducer you will get some fairly bad overdrive (believe me, i tried it)... i think the thing you should do is buy like a UX1 or something like that...

Try a Line 6 device called the Guitar Port, something my store's been pimping out lately, if you don't have something else to plug it into your computer (for example, a Soundblaster Audigy ZS Platinum Pro II or IV).
Plugs directly into your USB port, and works great.

Depends on where I am. At home, I have a cord that has a 1/4 jack on one end and a 1/8 jack on the other. At my drummer's house it's Bass>amp>mixer>computer, since we record there.
