I just recieved some of these guys' music thru the Extreme Metal mailing list.
Amazing band, I was just wondering why they broke up? One of the few death metal bands (other then Death themselves) that I enjoy listening to.

You're damn right. :)
I don't know why they broke up, there is not that much information on them that I've found.

Second or third page.
Bolt Thrower and Obituary are old-school death, so its not suprising that you like these guys but not them.

Are the two Autumn Leaves albums out of print?
I downloaded both of them through the mailing list, and man, I'm impressed. I was wrong about Arsis being the only true melodic death band. These guys are really melodic but still heavy as hell at times. I only had a chance to listen to some clips of a few songs, but from what I've heard this is ****ing incredible. I also have an urge to explore Intestine Baalism too. :)
And by the way, I haven't listened to Bolt Thrower yet, but I like Obituary.

Arsis is a way less "true" melodic death than a lot of other bands.
If you go questing for true Melodic Death hit me up on slsk (DetVlagt) and I'll give you some names of some more bands. Make sure to check out Eucharist - Mirrorworlds, which is my latest discovery.
Also, Carcass - Heartwork is one of the first Melodic Death albums, and is basically "true" melodic death.

Autumn leves are wicked, one of the heavier bands which I really like, talanted as hell too, Rsigning From Life is a hell of a song.

Thanks, I will. Melodic death is probably my favorite genre so I'm always on the lookout for more. I had Carcass, but I lost all my music and I'll need to re-download it. Such a classic.

They were an awesome American DM band, I mean... all we basically have had in America is In Death We Rise, Death, Between The Buried And Me (sort of), Daath, Nights of Sorrow, Underoath (early works), and them... it's a shame they broke up, because America's Death Metal scene is week.

You damn right. I love the openly militant lyrics the most.
Autumn Leaves also rule, nearly as good as Argholsent.

I told you! ;)
For you guys wondering about why they broke up, when I asked Flemming a couple months ago I got this response "We broke up the band because the spark had just disappeared. None of us where happy about playing anymore. We were sort of fed up with each other at the time. Playing had become a routine. So we split on good terms. We are all still good friends..."
Whoa, I thought this thread was about that popular jazz theme
Haha, same!

Oh man, that's terrible. I've been listening to these two albums constantly for the last week. Really great stuff. I think I like their first album better - it was heavy but really melodic, but both are excellent.
I need more melodic death like this. :)
