View Full Version : MX Slap War: Round II
Riouken "Slap Entry 2"
http://www.soundclick.com/riouken
Roee "Round 3"
http://www.soundclick.com/roee_cohen (ignore the second track of bass near the end, Roee is having recording problems so I let him use this entry from the last slap comp.)
Vote away.

My Entry: It was a case of putting the mic on whilstmy mate watchd telly and I just, did some improv. Few mistakes. I'm liking Roee's entry, good job!
But yeah, that's basically how it went down. Enjoy!

I really liked Roee's
I was going to vote for Roee, because Riouken's was a bit of a bore-but then I got to the amazing DT riff near the end of the song. Blew my mind.
Kudos to both, though-I loved your tune last time Roee and I still love it now.

Good entry Riouken, really took me off guard at the **** u can do.
Roee, I'm always a sucker for melody, and theres some damn groovy parts in there.
Both really good, but I'm gonna hafta go for Roee just for the tightness factor. Technically I think you're both neck in neck, but Roee's had less mistakes and was right on most of the time. Riouken you had some really fast parts. Yeh they were fast, but you compromised a lot of tightness to stick them in there.
Good stuff guys.

I know what you're saying. It was an improvised jam butI intended to lay back off the dTing in this entry and I did. Compartively to my other stuff "Slap Improv" and in my Double Thumb Audio file, this was kinda tame DT behaviour.
I have a habit of using it in fills and light melody and that's what I did in this piece but still tried laying back off with it.
Thanks for your comments man!

I really suck... geez, I wish I could play like you guys. I can't even think of stuff that creative. :/ I think I need to find someone to teach me some stuff... I'm kinda hitting a wall lately.
Hopefully in time...

overall, i liked roee's better. it was less technical, but it just well . . . sounded better. i could definitely see myself write the exact same song that riouken, with the technicality and all, but as technical as it was, it just lacked the "get up and jump" feeling, which roee's had . . . roee get's my vote (the drum beat helped) . . .

too bad riouken. I thought yours was better... Maybe you should use a drum beat too next time.

Trust me I wanted one, but I had no software to do one and every thing I downlaoded was a demo.
I really think the drums would have brought this piece out a lot more and would have kept me in more contorl of my own DT stuff.
Anyways, what's done is done and Roee deserved it :thumb:

Do you reckon you could leave feedback that explains why you liked Roee's over mine? And give both me and Roee feedback on what you didn't enjoy about our pieces!
Me and Roee mainly want the feedback and crit rather than the votes!

it was just an emotion thing, roee's hit me harder than yours did emotion-wise, technically they were both great, it was really just my first impression.
