Studios and Recording Rooms

Hey, I am looking at beginning research on equipment needed in a studio for a rock band. I have no clue whatsoever of what is necessary. What I need help with is what kind of equipment I wuold need for recoring, editting, production, etc...I'm not sure what I'm looking for, I am quite obvlious about this stuff, which is why I'm asking. :p

Well, if all you're trying to get initially is the essentials here's what I would suggest:
-computer with a good recording program
-small mixer (I would go no less than 8 channels)
-vocal microphone
-set of drum mics

Realistically that's all you NEED to record. Now, that might not get you the most professional end result possible, but it will certainly get the job done.

what mister edge bass said it correct, BUT you should make sure you have a deaden room to record in or else there wont be good acoustics and wouldnt sounds as good.
