can we get two pics that are to the same scale? The maple just looks weird so small

but probably the birch

The curly maple is exceptionaly thin (and super $$$$)

I love the way the grain goes against the curls in the birch

Out of those two, the birch. I've seen curly maple that looks exactly like the birch in the picture though.

The birch looks cooler, but I'd prefer a maple shell in the end just because I'm difficult

I really love the look of the curly maple. Something about its fine vertical lines, the smooth random-ness of its grain is just amazing. The curly birch however, looks great, but does not appeal to me as much.

HOWEVER
Kurillian Birch is out of this world. I would LOVE to have a maple kit in natural with that wood as an outer ply :thumb:

Its not the best pic, but this is curly maple on my snare drum (looking head on the grain does not show as well).
