yes, this is the 2nd time posting this... either the forums or my computer wigged out and didint submit my post.............
anyways
yesterday i drove 4 hours north to Cleveland,OH to see Avenged Sevenfold, Saosin, Death by Stereo, and Opiate for the masses. All of which were really awesome... but that's another story
http://schecterguitars.com/imgs/baronh_blk.jpg
The bassist for Opiate for the masses played this bass through an Ampeg head and a Fender 8x10.... for the longest time, this bass just seemed too ugly to play, if i saw it, i wouldn't pick it up.. it just bothered me with the awkward pick gaurd.. and miss shaped horn...
After seeing them play, i am SO anxious to pick one of these up... the sounds that came out of that rig was just music to my ear's... (litterally) it was such a sweet tone, i loved it.. i would consider buying it dispite the look.
thoughts on this bass?
have you had a similar experience?

o...bass related, yeah thats ugly...and gav is hot.
Edited by Gav. :)
gav is hot like stale donuts
Edited By Phil
And by stale donuts he means hot like...a male pr0n star
Edited by Gav
a male pron star = xylophone
Edited By Phil
A xylophone = Phil's mom, ergo, Phil's mom = male pr0n star
Edited by Gav
Thusly, my mom is superior to gavs mom in the fact that my mom is a guy. and men > women.
Edited by Phil
Yeah...I'm done with this...way too tired. :p
Edited by Gav
Phil stop editing this...

pff you cant opress me in my own post.

Yes I can. :)

Hrm...seems like it would have a very defined and meaty tone, but still be able to get the highs from being a hollowbody, but I've never played it, so don't quote me. :p
Any reviews on Musician's Friend or something?
By the way: Saosin = love...not a fan of any of those other bands, though. :upset:

to A7Xbass:
unbelieveable.. it's a shame you couldn't come man... saosin wasn't as good as i had thought they would be... but everyone else was fantastic!... A7X put on a hell of a show.. johnny cut his hair? no more mo-hawk?... it's pretty short with random blonde patches?.. i got plenty of pic's, im pickin em up tomorrow or tuesday... i'll give ya a link when i get them up.
only drawbacks to the show..
1) EXTREME LACK OF WATER... i was front row and the place was really really small, and jam packed..... 3 girls passed out near me from it.. i myself had nearly passed out and got a lot of chest pains and couldn't breathe, so i had to be lifted over the fence out of the crowd... :-\
2) i had caught a drum stick from Opiate for the Masses, and i had it in my belt, and i lost it somewhere in the pit...... :upset:
3) got kind of a black eye, cut eye brow, scratch across my forhead and multiple bruises from crowd surfer's.......
but other than that, it was well worth the money... the ride home was hell though.. oi..... sleeping in a car when its about 30 degree's in a mcdonald's parking lot doesn't work out well.......
to Gav:
I hadn't heard anything from anyone but A7X till i got there... i just heard some things from friends as to what to expect..... and saosin was good, but the singer was boring on stage....... he did get smacked in the face by the bass though
poor guy

^ Yeah, Cove has boring stage presence...it's a shame Anthony (original singer) left...he has great stage presense, mainly because he's coked out of his mind while simultaneously having an acid trip...

the acid trip alone would be enough for good stage prescence......

^ Off topic: I saw Saosin once (when they had Anthony) a while ago. Because Anthony is a narcissistic prick, he refuses to help the band load stuff on stage, so he did some tabs of acid before the show...we saw him under the stage, curled into a ball, rocking back and forth, pupils the size of quarters (his whole eyes were jet black) talking to himself about dinosaurs...very big druggie...
Awesome dude, though, when he's not being a narcissistic prick as mentioned earlier, which is rare.

sounds like a swell guy :thumb: haha...... actually the guys of A7X were being a bit of prick's.... i got they're 2 1/2 hours early... (determained to be front row for this show) and everyone but Zach and Johnny (rythem and bass) had been walking around..... shadows (singer) was the only one that would even stop to talk to sign a kid's photo... i saw it happen just as i pulled in, and i was really mad cause i have all of they're sigs EXCEPT Shadow's (got previous sig's from Warped tour)

FU, I love the design of that bass . I went to a music store to look for that bass, but I found the custom-5 and I fell in love with it.
But I love the design of the Baron-H, specially because it is a hollowbody, and I love hollows.

I love that bass
Gav - as to high ends on a hollow body, ive tried an artcore and hated the high end. is it like that on all hollowbodies?
i like the G&L ASAT as far as hollowbody (and telecaster looking) basses go tho

I'm hoping to get a Baron-H for Christmas.
They aren't a true hollowbody though, they only have a small chamber which cant be more than 25% of the body size.
I've played one twice, just to make sure I really liked it. It has a very punchy sound and the EQ is very versatile (3 Band EMG). The Duncan designed MM-101 pickup is also superb.
My only possible gripe is the neck is a little thick, and they don't do them in white.

Machines has been ranting to me about it for a while.
I like the Antique Yellow finish - though it would be improved by a matched headstock. The natural maple just doesn't work. Apparently they sound damn nice though. Matt - was this the one you said sounded like a Stingray, or was that the more modern looking one?
Machines

It was the Baron-H, and yes it did sound like a Stingray (I compared them directly, the Stingray actually sounded a bit sterile in comparison).
The CV-4 I tried was broken, and thus made no sound (http://www.schecterguitars.com/spec.asp?id=90).

That bass is pretty sweet...I haven't played it myself, but I've heard it on the Crue's Trilogy DVd, and it sounds awesome.
I think most the Cure albums have been recorded using that bass.

if i were to get this bass, it would have to be the all black... i cant stand that yellow w/ natural head stock... if it matched, it would be better... but i still dislike the yellow...
meh
