While searching around http://www.launch.yahoo.com , I found a sweet band called Blackfield. They sound a lot like Porcupine Tree, and I just discovered Steven Wilson is one of men behind the band. They are Progressive/Art Rock. Great stuff. There are some songs on their MySpace site. I love Blackfield. I actually uploaded their album yesterday, so e-mail me at eddiesminion@gmail.com if you want the yousendit link.

I highly recommend them to any fan of Porcupine Tree and they are just fantastic.

I only really started checking them out today. Anyone who's interested in PT should check them out. Most of the material is insanely beautiful.

They remind me of old video footage of one of those spinning women music box things. Have only heard about 4 songs though.

Creeping Deth; I wouldn't mind getting that link for the download. Just sent you an email requesting it.

I love Blackfield. I got into them, of course, because of Porcupine Tree, but they're a really good listen. Catchier and poppier than PT, but in a good way. Anything that comes from Wilson is usually quality.

I didn't want to start a new thread or post in the PT thread, but I found an interesting Livejournal blog that has the audio of the NYC DVD uploaded and it looks like you can dl the whole DVD (it's in 7 .rar parts and you have to have all of them it looks like, I haven't finished all of them yet). Anyone post their email or whatever and I'd be happy to send the link.

lol, It would have been ok to start a new thread. Yes, Blackfield is a quality band.

Wow, two years can change a lot. I despise Blackfield now, and most of Wilson's projects that aren't Porcupine Tree pretty much suck.

I like No Man, even though I know that most other people don't.

It's funny seeing my old self when I was still a Wilson dick-licker. lol.

No-Man is lukewarm, dull tripe and his other project IEM is awfully boring and uninteresting.

Most things related to Porcupine Tree are lame but I kind of want to hear Bass Communion.

Bass Communion is meh.

Have you guys seen the DVD yet?

Blackfield II was terrible.

And tbh, why listen to Blackfield at all when you have PT...?

IEM is awfully boring and uninteresting.

This I can at least agree with

Same with Bass Communion

But No-Man is good at least in some moods and Blackfield is just straight up great pop music

And tbh, why listen to Blackfield at all when you have PT...?
Why listen to hip-hop when you have classical

Blackfield has a different feel overall than PT.

At this point I'd rather listen to Blackfield II than foabp.

I really like II.

Epidemic and 1,000 People are my favorite tracks.

The vocal melodies in Once just kill me. And when Aviv comes in for the last verse of End of the World.

I am convinced Aviv is gay after watching the DVD.

Blackfield would be better without aviv

Once is an amazing ****in song
End of the World is an amazing ****in song

The rest of them are all pretty sweet except Some Day which blows dick but the rest of the album makes up for it.

As much as I do like SW vocals, imo its good that there is someone else singing vocal harmonies to add a little extra "flavor" because we've all heard SW do vocal harmonies a million times by now.

Oh, sure the vocal harmonies are good, but I honestly think Aviv writes shitty shitty songs

Jude

Aviv writes the majority of the songs too

Although a lot of the best ones tend to be SW's, i.e. Blackfield, Once, Christenings

But Aviv's are still really good too and if it weren't for him it would just be another SW solo album

Oh, sure the vocal harmonies are good, but I honestly think Aviv writes shitty shitty songs
Wtf

Blackfield is cool, I have the first album but never got round to getting the second, I'll need to get it sometime.

Has anyone checked out IEM? I've been looking for some for a while but it's evaded me so far...
