Ok, on saturday i was putting my bass in the shop for a checkup, and i spotted this ibanez 4 string fretless. Im easily confused by the letter and number configuration ibanez uses, so ill put it like this. Its a four string fretless, pj set up, color finish, and not lined neck (SR300?). Its not active either, but it sounded pretty good. Heres the big thing, it was about $249 (U.S). Ive got the cash, checked everything about the bass, and have been wanting a good fretless. It also looks like it wouldnt be hard to put some new electronics in it, even though the ones it has right now are pretty good.
Any suggestions? http://www.samash.com/images/items/ISR300FCA.jpg
i guess its the sr300.

I played one of those when I was looking around to buy a fretless - I've got to say I wasn't that impressed. It was fairly comfortable to play, but the tone was awful. Really twangy and rubbery. I thought it was the amp I was playing it through, but I tried out, loved, and bought another fretless I tried through the same amp.
Could of course be that the one I played was a lemon - as ever, you're the one who has to play it, not me. If you like it, go get it.

Vintage V940FL - Sadly not available in the US. At least, not without paying enough shipping to make it not worth it. :)

I played a fretted one of those for a bit, and agree with Wintermute about the tone. Kind of lacking.

I've only played a fretless once. I loved the sound.
