I couldn't find one of these threads in the forum.

So how do you guys think of Mudvayne. Put thoughts and comments in here.

When they first started out I wasn't too big into them. But I think they've evolved as a band, I like their sound and respect them a lot.

I think it was something that a guy wanted a Mudvayne jacket, not a thread on the band.

I'm more of a fan of Melodic Death Metal and Power Metal nowdays though.

Meh, It's a major step down from something so technically unique as LD50
I admit after playing songs in 17/8 and creating awesome riffs with harmonics their new stuff fails in comparison, but it is still pretty good.

they're one of the better nu-metal bands out there, i only got THe End Of All Things To Come and various songs off Lost And Found. I like their earlier stuff better, especially when they have occasional odd time signatures in their songs. but i do enjoy "determined" and "pushing through" off their new release. But yeah, i really like them

L.D 50 has been their best effort. All albums released after that, I believe, have declined in quality. L.D 50 was so good because of the infinite amount of time the band had to record, with the resulting album having a very exotic sound. I read somewhere they spent something like 4 years working on it. TEOATTC's time frame was a few months, and it shows. Lost & Found supremely let me down. L.D 50 was Mudvayne's big shot at something worthwhile, but their following albums just heaped them into the mainstream.

Just my two cents anyway

they did a video for saw2, kinda cool

taco33834
11-10-2005, 10:49 AM
Their sound has evolved since L.D. 50, I think. L.D. 50 was more about impressing people with their musical skills, and they played more as four separate entities than a band as a whole. Their makeup really distracted from their music. Now they play as a band toward one unified sound, and their stage makeup is minimal, if any. They've changed a lot, but I still like L.D. 50 the best. I was/am an angry child, so that's definately my favorite of their albums. Whatever, just my opinion...

It's truly irritating lately, plus, fact is more than half of the black metal elitists complain about Nu-Metal being too simplistic, when most Black Metal is equally as simplistic.

LD 50 was easily their best album. The others are pretty good aswell though, just not got the rawness of LD 50.

Something that pisses me off, with any band, is when a new album comes out, and people stop being a fan...

I mean, fair enough you dont like that album, but if thats enough to make you stop being a fan, then thats ****ed.
Sorry, rant over...

Lost and Found is a great album, well, all of them are.
But LD 50 has that something...that one something that an album needs.

The time they showed up to the awards ceremonies in white suits, with fake bullet holes in each of their foreheads, and covered in blood was ****ing fantastic, i loved it.

You should have the actual .mp3 on your computer...

Either you ripped the CD into iTunes or downloaded the song...

Was that a serious post?

I think the most skilled part of Mudvayne are, Ryno and Chad(?)

The vocals are amazingly good for nu metal and the lyrics on LD 50 had meaning to them... Very rare for nu metal...

The bass is great on LD 50. Lots of good slapping and even a bass solo.

Sadly the bass went more quiet in later releases though.

Oh, and it's Matt McDonough, for the record. He's an essential member of the band, too. Ryan is the most talented of the group, obviously, but for being self-taught, McDonough is terrific.

Meh, LD 50 had some amazing bass lines, he had amazing pops and runs on it, TEOATTC was a real let down for me, I didn't like it to much. The bass was definately not as good, he kinda reinvented himself on LaF but I don't think it's near LD 50 yet. While he has some good bass lines (lots actually) he was more technically good on LD 50.

Hey Jom, I was reading you review of LD 50 great review, but I was wondering how you were able to really understand what Chad was saying, not like understand the words, but the meaning. I was never really able to do that and it really impressed me.

As did I, and I still can't understand Chad half the time, but his voice is just so awesome that I'm okay with it. I never actually released until just recently when I listend to LD 50 how much double tracking Chad did. Most of the clean vocals are harmonized, and he overdubs his harsh vocals a lot, it must be a bitch to do live, with Greg yelling while playing guitar in odd time signatures.

Technicality doesn't mean everything. He has alot of original stuff on Lost and Found aswell as LD50, and i think thats what counts most. Look at Gregs guitar stuff. Its not technical, but sound great and fits the band really well.

I think thats what time Slipknot played last year (not that i went, or would havw watched them).Im just assuming Mudvayne are the Slipknot of this years BDO. On a similar note, i was driving home yesterday, had my windows down cos is was soo hot and had Mudvayne (Skrying was the song) playing fairly loud. Anyways, i stopped at the traffic lights, and a lady in the car next to me asked if i was listening to Slipknot. People from where i live think Slipknot is the only *heavy* band in existence. Is it just me, or does everyone around here seem to think that every time a band changes its because they want to become popular?

I hate comments like these because that's not the reason that Mudvayne changed, they changed because they wanted to, Chad has said it in many many interviews. SO many people have said that they think they should have just kept making records like LD 50, Chad has said that he could make another LD 50, but he doesn't want to, he has said that he think Mudvayne has matured as a whole and that if youdon't like em, don't listen.

LD 50, decent album. Everything afterwards, I'd rather listen to Fashioncore.

Ryan really just falls short of a couple of people (Vic Wooten, Flea, Jaco, "Funk Machine," Cliff Burton) as one of the premier bassists of this era. If only he was in a better band. Hell maybe he should make a solo album

I don't know. Hard rock isn't really the genre for them. I love when they're progressive, not poppy. Deftones can get away with the poppy thing but Mudvayne, not so much. I guess Chad's voice is annoyingly edgy somtimes too whereas his clean voice is secks.

I like his vocals on LaF, I didn't think they fit the music as much on TEOATTC.

Does anyone like the album title? Lost and Found sounds a little dumb to me.

I could care less about it, some of my favorite albums have ****i names, like AC/DC - Who Made Who, or Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen. And I think that the album name has to do with the lyrics a bit.

they are just trying to broaden their auduence. At the show in Dallas, the new songs blended well with the ld 50 songs. They sounded heavy as ever, the songs may not be as technical, but that doesn't make it pop either.

Hmm, Lost and Found was really a nothing title for me. I don't hate it, nor do i love it. But the album itself, im begining to love it. Definatley my second Mudvayne album now. Rain.Sun.Gone is probably my 2nd fave song, behind Severed.

No answered before, so ill ask again. Did anyone look at my picture with Chad and Ryan? If not, go to www.myspace.com/opethfan :thumb:

I didn't say pop, I said "poppy" which was the intended approach of the album. They're good at progressive stuff, not so much straight up hard rock like they are aiming for at the moment.

I totally agree with you Moses, but for some reason i still really like Lost and Found.

For their next release i hope they keep the same style as LAF but make the lyrics more mature and songs a little more dynamic. They had it right with L.D.50 but a little much psychoness(imo). We'll see what happens.

Yeah, i think there were definatley some bad lyrics on Lost and Found (Determinds lyrics have got to be Chads worst effort by far). I think Rain.Sun.Gone has some good lyrics though.

Oh, I wasn't even quoting what you said.....just I've heard a lot of people call it that. I understood what you meant and on the album I totally agree with you.

You make pointless ignorant comments...

If you don't like Mudvayne, don't come in here.

If you want to make a point or debate WITHOUT FLAMING... Then do so.

You just make yourself look like a idiot doing this.

I just listened to L.D.50 today for the first time in a while. I really think they should take the long *** time they took with this album for their next. TEOATTC and Lost and Found have nothing on L.D.50.

Everyone knows that. Of course music is subjective. Noone cares.

There is a best according to his tastes though, which he is expressing. And in a technical aspect, he's correct.

While theres no such thing as 'best' when it comes to music,Mudvayne clearly are one of the better nu-metal bands to come out.

What direction do you guys think Mudvayne will in with their next album?I hope they go back to a bit more of the LD 50 style,a bit more progessive, bit more technical kinda thing.Don't think they will though, they seem pretty happen with the stlye on Lost and Found.
