The concert was originally going to be thursday, but Ian Gillan got sick, and the show was moved to Friday.
I arrived to the Plaza de Toros at 6:30 P.M. to get a good place. And I did, I was in third row. The opening band was Unchained. I've never heard of them before. I think they are local, because they speak spanish. Anyway, they play something like Metallica meets Judas priest. They played 2 original songs and 2 covers : Judas priest's Nightcrawler and Acdc's You shook me all night long.
At 9:00 P.M. Deep purple finally came out. They opened with Fireball. Then Ian Gillan said he was sorry for cancelling thursday's show. And then continued playing . They played a couple songs from the album that's coming out in January, which by the way, are really good.
The set list was something like this:
( Not in the right order, except for the first and last song)
Fireball
Strange kind of woman
Demon's eye
Wrong man
Song I didn't know
Kiss tomorrow goodbye
Another song I didn't know
Long guitar solo
band Improvisation
Highway star
Title song from the new album
Keyboard solo
Band improvisation
Smoke on the water
encore
band improvisation
Lazy
bass solo
Black night
The set list was rather short, they played only like 1 hour and a half. The solos and improvisations were kinda long. The one the audience liked the most was the keyboard solo, it was something like this:
Mr. crowley intro
classical piano song
Scales and solos and stuff
la cucaracha, which made the audience laugh
star wars main theme
classical piano song
They played awesome, but they missed classic songs like Hush, Space truckin, kentucky woman, child in time etc.
Overall, the concert was 4/5.
