Im thinking of purchasing a roland td20 for practicing. Wondering how often they come out. Basicallly if anyone could guess as to when a Roland td30 kit would be out.

Eum...

do you have 7500$ for the kit and another 500$ for a decent amp??

And all that "just for" practice?
Sounds a bit out there to me man...

Why would you want to spend that much on a TD20 just for home practising? Just get a TD3 or 6, which admittedly arent as powerful, but on the plus side they are a quarter of the price of a TD20.

To answer your question, Roland release a new model whenever they see fit and have the technology to enhance what they currently stock. The TD12 is relatively new, the TD3 has been upgraded, the TD8 and 10 have both been deleted from their lines, but I dont believe Roland has a plan to release new models within a certain timeframe, especially seeing as they dominate the elctronic kit market.

Yeah, the TD-20 is still fairly new....I think if youre waiting for new model, youre going to be waiting a long time..

I would look in to either a TD-20, or TD-12....I think I would stay away from the TD-10, or TD-8 because they are discontinued.

But, the good thing is that electronic modules/drums, especially Roland, seem to hold their value. Should you want to sell your equipment for better equipment, you should be able to get a fair price out of them.

the TD8 and 10 have both been deleted from their lines,
Really? Wow, I had no idea... Do you know why? As I understand it, the TD10 was a big hit, with the expansion slots and all.

I know that the TD8 lossed its place a little bit because of the TD10. I heared that the TD10 offered THAT much more for while it didn't cost much more then the 8. Maybe the TD10 suffered the consequence with the outcome of the TD12? I'm not to familiar with that module, haven't played it yet...

Still, I'm surprised to hear this!

ahh i remember there were the 8 and 10.. and once the 20 and 12 came out.. i was guessing they took over.. 20 -->10 and 12 -->8

but yea if its just for practise i really dont think you need the 20.. my friend has one and in my opinion it really isnt so great compared to the others..
