Hey MX, i havent been around lately, my trip down to New Orleans after the hurricaine, Schoo, SOCOM 3 (NaveedsDreams if you want a game), and Playing with MY NEW BAND, and a local artist heard me playing and asked me to come down and laydown a Bass solo, create some lines, and play some lines he had in mind. It was a great experience, and he even asked me to play in his back up band. I'll have to think about it but i really liked his vibe, and if it was a equal partnership i would do it in a heartbeat, but taking the backseat, with little room to voice my ideas, might be a little tough.

This was my first trip out there last friday, i went yesterday not much was acomplished, im going again on thursdays and Hopefully I'll have some tracks for you guys.

Me On The 5 String (E-A-D-G-C is the way to be) funking it up with some hard picking and the mutes. I Like The Blurryness on my picking hand makes it look llike im playing fast.

Trying to Feel My Way Around On the Upright, when some muted notes wouldnt come trhu deep enough on my electric. I have Horrible Intonation... well not that bad, but i taught my self upright so.......

maybe its just the pic but your right hand on the upright is in a horrible position hopefully you dont play like that you loose so much tone from the bass.

because you rarely see people playing it, and i dont who you are every bassist, has dreamed of playing upright, or having that tone. The Upright is really cool.

Its really strengthening my fingers, and Im trying to work my 2nd finger in there i know you only use 1 3 4, but im trying to work it in.

yeah, i was talking about right hand, your right, you should pluck the string with the side of your finger for maximum sound and punch, the strings are too big to be plucked like an electric.

ah.... yeah, Thats the #1 thing i forget about, i first played with my thumb, then i started with one finger side ways, didnt like it, went to electric style, now im trying play sideways, but i play the string up the my second joint of my finger correct?

WM, no i wasnt paid, but if i did join his band i would be paid, he's a music going to school like me, i wouldnt feel right asking for money, and he didnt offer anyways, i just wanted the oppurtunity really, if i get paid thats a Plus, but its stil an A+ experience.

EDIT: and it looks like maybe i should take lessons, i play as a second outlet, being familiar with both, just incase i have to play one or the other. My Instruments go in this order Bass,Guitar,Piano, Upright, then if i get my trumpet trumpet before upright. I just want to be versatile

lessons are very helpful specially with intonation and positioning and shifting from one position to another makes playing it much easier n e ways yes second joint of your index finger

My teacher, Played Cello when he was younger, he hated it, so in college when he had to play upright, he almost dropped out... now because he couldnt play it (he is actually quite good) but it reminded him of Cello, and he Absolutely hated playing it.

So asking him will result in him taking my Spare D'add B strings and whipping me with them.

Any bass tuned up a fourth than normal is considered a tenor, for example ADGC, EADGC, EADGCF.

I have never heard of anyone using a tenor 7, maybe you should order a Bb string and try it out.


I think that is the limit though, after Bb I am reminded too much of guitar strings. Don't get me wrong, I like ERB's, I just think that high Eb and Ab strings are pretty stupid.
