Right so i can't decide on what to do, i'm looking into getting a new reasonably priced 4 string considering mine is a bit naff and i'm a bit stuck between:
5 String Warwick Rockbass Corvette Basic
or
Spector Proline 4
Soooooo i play alsorts, slap, tap etc but it needs to be solid for fingerstyle aswell as these for in a band situation?
Or can anyone else recommend anything with a similar feel to these two in the £300/£400 region that it might be worth looking into?

Let's review:
You're looking to get a reasonably priced four string and one of your final choices is a Warwick Corvette five string?
'Kay.
Let me think about it a little...maybe I can recommend a banjo or something.

i can agree with the other points you said, but i really dont understand where that one came from? He was just making a joke that you said you were looking for a 4string. Noone has commented on your price range or whether the basses you are looking at are shit or not. I said that i would go for the spector out of preference as i dont really like the rockbasses, and i do like the spector. lighten up.

Then next time don't make the ****ing joke, i wanted some suggestions, nto a ****ing jokester n00b coming along telling me to buy a banjo.
I've had about all the lightening up i can take today thank you very much, and i'd quite liek it if the forums went back to the nice way they once were. Now if you wouldn't mind i don't want, nor do i care about yours of Fatback's opinions anymore as it's become obvious to me that not only do i not want Fatback's opinion i don't care. Nor do i need to be told to lighten up, so i'd quite liek you not to post again so i can get on with my thread without it being locked/me being banned.
Thank You, end of.

I'd stick with Spector, since I despise Rockbass, but both are a bit crud.
If i remember correctly, don't you own a fantastic Tobias 6 string?

I'd definately look into Schecter mate. In all honesty, I'd stay clear of Rockbasses.. they really are nothing like Warwicks :thumb:
It might be a good idea to look at the Schecter Elites and Customs. I know personally that Schecter make very very high quality basses for the price and some of the best workmanship from a Korean factory. My Custom 4 is a brilliant all-round bass and I can't fault it as being not as good with some techniques as others. I'd definately say it excels in slap though.
Unless you're on about the Spector Pro Q-4 when you said Proline, I've not had any experience with it. But having owned a Spector Pro Q-4, I know they're very high quality basses for the price too. Mine was a bit lacking in brightness but it was a really great player.
And just ignore those people...

Oh dear, i feel so ashamed.
I don't CARE if you have 40 years of professional experience, i asked for some help on a matter, you gave me precisely none. If you hate Rockbasses so much then fancy giving me a suggestion other than a banjo? It's all well and good having 4 years experience but you're hardly using it in a productive way to help me are you? All you did was to slag off one of the few basses i've been considering at the moment due to a lack of cash and a much worse 4 string fretted at the moment.
Now get a grip on life, if you've had 40 years playing experience professionally i'm assuming this makes you at least in the region of 55/60 if so why are you making snide comments on an internet website? I wouldn't mind so much if you'd given a reason and been generally pleasant about your views but there is absolutely no excuse for being rude when i was trying to genuinely get some help.
Now as i said i don't value your opinion, 40 years of experience or not, so if you'd kindly let me stop spamming my thread up with flaming i'd like to continue and get some real help from somebody whose opinion matters.
kthxbye

I've never been a big Cort fan to be honest but i've only played Curbow's which are completely different to normal Corts or so i've heard.

No, its not Luthite, but I'm not sure what wood it is. The four strings are really nice, so I expect the 5s to be the same.

Hmmm Im not sure Id say that. In my experience, SC is a personal experience, with staff who really know their stuff, and a nice friendly, familiar atmosphere. Some people have described places like Guitar Centre as being guitar megastores, like Asda or Tesco, but with Guitars. IE, huge range of stock, but no one to take you around the place.

**** Neal, that's some of the most quality flaming I've seen done in a looong time.
Props!
Honestly, take a look at used things, and you'll be able to get a pretty killer bass for that kind of money. I also highly reccomend Corts, especially the Artisian series. Cort has top-knotch quality and decent prices, for the most part. Other than that, there isn't that much in the new market of your price range that I can think of. I'd personally try to find one of those Peavey Millenium AC's with the Cirrus electronics. They're, like, dirt cheap too.

I would reccomend the schecter CV-4. I really loved the one that I played, supposedly good slap tone (im having trouble slapping at the moment) as it has a MM p'up and a jazz p'up. Might be out of your pricerange, not sure cos its f'in murder trying to find one in the UK. (I played one in an American music shop).
But if not id recomend any schecter. THEY ROCK

Slap me. I'm willing to be an e-slappee if it makes people feel better ^_^
Imagine me like one of those 'executive stress balls' that you scrunch up and throw around but don't actually make you feel better...
Or just bask in my radiant glow

I'm not sure which one, i'll have to say Spector based on the fact that i've heard one and it had a very nice tone. I had a chance to play a Rockbass the other day but my friend must have had some sand in his vagiina or something
