In a world where Staind and Nickelback came out with new albums in the same year, it would be hard to choose any other band.

But I choose Aqueduct. They're really really boring and lack melody. The one thing you needed to be a silly indie rock/pop band was a hook and you lost it!

Actually, go ahead and forget them. Everybody else did.

I don't know why, but in the realm of terrible categories of popular music, I tend to rate modern rock below everything else, including pop-punk, pop that thinks it's pop-punk, and garage-rock revival crap. Don't get me wrong though, it's all very very horrible!

Actually "The Killers" would be a good band name if it reflected on the attitude or style of the band at all. But it doesn't. Iron Maiden's second album reflected the word "Killers" in a far superior manner.

The Killers = Alright band name
The Bravery = The Killers + Post-Emo + 80's Dance Music = Bland + Unoriginal
Disturbed = Overplayed, "dramatic!" mess of generica. Tell that man to STFU. And stop it with those screamy things at the beginning of all your songs.
Breaking Benjamin = Not so great. "Cold" would be a million times better if it were an acoustic song. Their Halo 2 song is a guilty pleasure.

I actually can enjoy The Killers, but The Bravery's single "Honest Mistake", I really just cannot bring myself to like. It has nothing to do with Indie cred, I just frankly don't like the song.

fair enough then, i just seem to see a lot of generic "they suck" comments without explaining elements of the music that they find upsetting to the ears. That kind of stuff is easy to find in some bands, I just don't see what is so absolutely horrible about the music made by the killers when it is taken as just music. sure, it can be bland and unmemorable, rip offs, or whatever, but there is stuff that is much worse to listen to believe me.

YDload
10-29-2005, 12:33 AM

No, I think they're bad because I heard their music and I think they suck.

You should've put "I think" in the first place then.

And your first statement makes me think that you haven't really listened to those bands at all.

MCR are scremo!!!!

they arnt called screamo
they arnt called Emo or poppunk or power pop or any other name you wanna come up with...they are called CRAP...they are a wanna be the Used and the used is just an overproduced band that just happens to have a good first cd. now if you wanna base your sound off of that. then im gonna call you crap. and if you look like girls in your video and in your "performances" then im gonna call you Girly-Crap...grow some balls. learn how to play your instruments. and learn how to be original. that is all.

if guys dress like girls (hence the MCR, the killers, the bravery) then im not gonna take you seriously and im gonna call you a tranny..your not gonna last past a couple of radio/video hits. your food for 14 year-old babies. the only person that can dress like a girl and get away with it is Eddie Izzard and thats cause he's funny as hell. i see nothing funny about any of you idiots

I doubt you're very familiar with anything other than how cool it is to hate it. MCR is one of the few pop-punk bands to try their hand at guitar solos, and they're fairly competent at it so you don't need to tell them how to play their instruments. And The Killers don't dress like girls, I don't know where you got that from.

Coheed & Cambria
I disagree. I think that this year's effort is their most "difficult" album, as in difficult to get into, but I've actually found that I really like it. And, despite their flaws, there have been much, much worse to come out with music this year. Co&Ca like to release catchy singles and obtuse albums, meaning the albums hardly defined by the singles - if they had whole albums like "A Favor House Atlantic" or "The Suffering", they'd sound more like Fall Out Boy with a girl.
Its cause im in the alt/indie section, and i remember everyone here loving them. I dont actually dislike them, i said it just to be a d'ick.
I actually figured as much.
Disturbed= some of the corniest lyrics ever + weird constapated sounding growling singer = white trash
Breaking Benjamin= Sounds like Disturbed, with a different singer. I havent heard the halo 2 song, but i hear its surprisingly good.
You've got Disturbed pretty pegged, nothing lyrically original that I've heard. Some moderately interesting technique in "Stricken", but still nothing worth my time. Breaking Benjamin are, I find, actually better than Disturbed in regards to playing, but they are still Nu-Metal meh. You should check out "Blow Me Away". In the context of Halo 2, it actually is pretty cool.

im not hating it just to hate it...i know plenty of pop-punk bands that guitar solo. Finch, Zebrahead, Reggie and the full effect, underoath, Rufio, matchbook romance and brand new

as for the killers the lead singer wears make up and when i met him at a show he was acting like a girl. dont get me wrong i liked that album but i feel like their next album will be a let down.

Okay, I guess hating The Killers for a weird reason isn't so bad.

The fact that you MET the singer of the band, however, is lamer than anything you've posted so far :)

So you hate bands because of what they wear and because they might look like girls/are homosexual? You're a smart one.

nope...read the sentences above what i wrote...the looking like girls is just an added bonus...and dressing like a girl has nothing to do with being homosexual. so where that assumption comes from is your own dimise

In that case can we be a total douche to you?

As someone said ICP automatically wins this since I hear they sort of release something every year. Runner-up would be something like Nickelback for me. The Killers and Franz are pretty awful as well.

Coheed & Cambria were one of the more decent bands I've discovered in the past several months.

Also I find it difficult to call anything with even a minute amount of hard singing and relatively loud crunching guitars to be purely "pop". MCR would sit on powerpop for me, it makes no sense to place them in the same genre as Christina Aguilera, not that either are superior to each other.

yeah thats fine...but i dont know for what reason you'd be a douche to me beings that you just seconded everything i said with your post. i mean i dont talk $hit about anyone in this forum..your all cool to me we listen to alot of the same good bands. i just posted my beef about MCR (like alot of people inthis thread did) and you jump all over me.
