Anyone have any experience with Zildjian Planet Z cymbals. They're really cheap, I know, but I just cracked 2 of my old cymbals and I need replacements while I save up for some better ones, just needed some insight. Thanks :)

They are entry level cymbals, and brass rather than bronze (to keep the price down), but are quite good for the price.

I dunno, man... if anything I'd go for B8's or something... they're ALOT better than Planet Z's

i have an 18" Planet-z crash-ride which i actually like. its doesnt sound like pro-level at all because its brass, but it plays well and projects okay if you like the tone

And in the end thats what it mostly boils down to

personal preferance

I would get B8's rather than planet Z's though

If you're saving up to get better cymbals: buy the Planet Z's now. They're really cheap and you can practice on them until you get quallity cymbals.

My school has planet z cymbals, and theyve had them along time, they get used by an awful lot of people, and get hit an awful lot, and they havent bent that much just a few dings in the crash, there fine apart from that, they dont sound to bad either, not great but for the price there nice, id go for them just so you have something to practice with!

id stay with stock cymbals if that were the case

Just put a whole in some trash can lids and mount them if you need something to practice on, cost effective.

ya three words, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. you will seriously regret buying these cymbals, do not do it, they have bad durability, and sound. I salute Zildjian for creating them, it was a VERY smart marketing skeem, creat cymbals that look like really good ones, so all the n00b drummers will buy them, lol

I ruined my stock cymbals in like a week :P. I've also had Sabian Solars which sounded DEAD, but lasted about 8 months (I've been very poor until recently :P). And now my ZBT's (which are WORLDS above the Solars).

But I guess I'll avoid cheap cymbals to save money and deal with my cracked cymbals.

Dude if you want something cheap while you continue to save up, just go Wuhan. They are ten times cheaper than Planet Z and will last much much longer and sound better (just as good as most of the professional lines). And when you do get money for better cymbals you can still use the Wuhans together with em.

Yeah from what I've heard I would say go with the Wuhans.

Wuhan they are cheap and will probably sound better than what you are looking at. I don't have experiance with Wuhan cymbals but from what I've heard over the past couple months go Wuhan!

The z's wont be too bad if its just for practice sake.

They should be - they arent in the same league. Planet Z's are in the same league as Solars, not B8's.

I wouldent bother with them if I was you. I got a 16" Planet Z crash awhile back at a garage sale for $5, instant crack.

But if you're looking for a good prepack I'd go with the B8 pack.

I use the as frisbees for my dog, although he goes through them pretty quick.

I've had mine for about three years. Working on replacing them by some higher level ones. Not one dent in them yet though.

What cymbals got cracked? That would probably help us make suggestions. 'Cause you could order two Wuhan crashes and a china in a pack for 100 dollars US online. If you're replacing a ride or hats though...not sure what to tell you. I heard about some Saludas a while back in these forums, but never did hear what people thought about 'em.
