Diablo 2 > Neverwinter Nights

If you're a D&D fan then get it basically.

It's really tough to get into, but once you get the hang of it, you're addicted. If you get it, I'd suggest getting a strategy guide.

And nice choice with Manhunt. I got that about a week ago and it's a lot of fun.

Its wicked. I can see why it got banned. I love the vicious attack with the baseball bat - very nice.

a very hard game to get into, IMO terribly boring. Unless you are a serious rpg fan dont touch it. it lacks the mass killing of diablo and the depth of the baldurs gate series, so its kinda in the middle. there are perks to the game though, the world buliding multiplayer and a good storyline to go with it. there are other better rpg titles out there, like the baldurs gate series, planescape torment, fallout 2,KOTOR I...etc...et..c..

manhunt, IMO another boring game. dont get it unless you like sneaking and watching people die horribly.

It's the most robust D&D gaming engine I've seen.

Although it's wide open to outside modding, the game itself is quite boring and repetitive.

I've seen outstanding mods for it out there. Diablo and Diablo II are obviously different games, and I don't get the comparison, but if you are a D&D fan this game is a must own.

It's mad fun multiplayer.

I think it's great. The main quest doesn't stand replaying really but there are some amazing mods out there.

Planescape Torment is awesome as well. I don't think it's better exactly though...

yes, baldurs gate 2 is the best, 1 is also very good. as a whole its one of the best rpg series ever and both are considered as a classics. but there is a downside the game is very challenging ( you can skip most of the hard parts) and demands a lot of thinking. so if you are looking for a no brainer like diablo then its not the game, but if you want a superb rpg experience with similar D&D rules as neverwinter and doesnt insult your thinking this is the one.

on the overall, the NPC's, story, gameplay, atmosphere, replayablility and length it owns neverwinter nights and a lot of rpgs out there. IMO even the FF series

Aerie? shes useless.......and because my main character is a necromancer i dont need her. to be honest almost all the NPC's rule, ever get a love triangle? its freaking funny, almost as good as edwin turning into a woman.

IWD had a decent story and gameplay, but it was too linear. It's really bloody hard in the early parts too. Also, everything was so bloody dark in some places that I was squinting at the screen for half the game.

you need serious magic to kill that thing, once it turns into a demi litch its instant death of all your characters unless you have tons of freedom spells.

True, although Arie is useful sometimes, just keep her the hell out of combat and she's alright... You kind of have to use her if your main character is a good non-mage, as Imoen and Nalia both suck as spellcasters, and you don't get Imoen back until late on...well, late on for me as I do most of the side quests in chapter 2...

I just started NWN as I get it just a couple of days ago, just cleaned out the prison...
That bloody lich is the only thing on BG2 I can't kill...

I think the game is too easy, a bit hard to start off though. There are easy ways to cheat and gain levels faster. Example, (for people who've played the game) when saving the animals at the zoo, you can keep clicking back on them and save them again, thus gaining more experience. You can keep repeating this until you get to level 20. It's pretty lame though, I just did it half a level before I stopped.

aeire is a good spell caster 2nd best mage in the game. but because she is a cleric mage she loses spells in both classes, she wont get much high level spells which is important later in the game. but, ya if your main character is not a mage you need to use her as a supporting spell caster (if you have edwin)

proseries you playing the right game? zoo? too easy? i seriously dont remember theres a zoo in the game or saving any animals. and i take it that you only play the main quest and stay away from all the hard fights. even at level 20 fighting dragons and litchs are very hard. then again if you cheat its obvious the game will be easier, same goes for every game.

i got planescape from torrent, kinda long download though. it lacks seeders

He pisses off when your rep gets above 18...like mine does by a small way into the game. It's irritating, all the best NPC's (by this I mean the ones that are single class) are evil, bar Keldorn, good old Keldorn, his supply of Dispel magic is possibly the most useful ability in the game.

Edwin is the best mage, Viconia the best cleric, although amonen is a decent substitute, and the dwarf bloke(I forget his name) Is a brilliant fighter. and Yoshimo turns traitor if you keep him and you have to use bloody Jan as your thief who gets irritating...

rep over 18? slayer! and fall back to 16, thats what i do to keep them quiet.
nah all evil characters arent exacly the best, good characters are also powerful. though i agree edwin owns all mages and veconia is the best cleric ( after you give her a strengh boosting item she is the most powerful NPC in the whole game )

but on the good side you've got mazzy, which is a great figher and her spells become really useful at times. minsc, everyone knows him, damn good fighter and have some abilities to cover up his lack of weapon skills. keldron is one powerful paladin, his true sight pwns all illusion spells and later in the game he becomes even more powerful when you give him the avenger. and that ranger valgar ( cant remember ) hes a good fighter too.

good sides have better "fighters", keldron + avanger and you'll see mages fall like flies. minsc make him beserk and a lot of people will fall.

the best way is to have a balanced party, you get all the characters and they dont whine. but there is a reason why most evil characters are powerful once you rep drops you will have a lot of problems and most times you need brute force to survive, how can you survive an attack with aerie, amonen, etc etc?

Yeah, he's a must have for any good party.

Of course that's the major downside to NWN, your character's feeble girl-arms and not being able to pass items to your henchman, and only having one of these at a time, means you always have problems with overweighing your character down.

You need a big manly ranger, not my pansy Paladin to do this.

NWN doesnt have a party, and combat is far simpler then BG. classes are individually stronger, man my main character (mage) can go solo on tomb robbing so it kinda turns it into a no brainer kind of game

i presume you are just starting NWN, in NWN drop all those items that you think are good and might be useful later. unless of course you want to sell them. you can get them later in the game ( some not even later, just in the next quest) i finished NWN and i've senn tons of robe/staff of magi and good items such as that. in NWN the best item is what you buy or make from blacksmiths, except for one sword. a katana where you can get in the middle of the game. its the famous divine fury from BG 2 if i remember right, even if its not it has similar stats .

i finished NWN , have 2 expansions and i still think its boring. its so because of the gameplay, your mage can go solo! use crossbows! the fighter class is really boring, tumble, disarm and can still pwn mages when they are fully protected and stuff. so it makes a one man show kinda game which D&D rules kinda suck at.

you cant exacly control the henchmen, they are like your party members from fallout 2 and you can only have 1. for a NPC they are no where near the depth of BG, and it only acts as a supporting character to cover up your main character in battles.
