This is my current set up, it plays very nicely. It is comfortable and I can get to pretty much every cymbal/drum with minimal effort.
This Friday my band is getting to play for a college in a nice out-door area, plenty of space, so this time (for once) I'll get to bring the whole rig for my playing enjoyment

Here's some more of my drum porn-

Haha! I wish I had $$. Just a college kid with an okay job and a love for anything related to drums :thumb:

To answer your question- I took a cymbal felt and sliced it in half (propper protection!) to make a small stack with my 10" A custom splash and 6" Zil-Bel :)

EDIT- Oh yes, the little guy to the left of that is a 6" splash.

nice. i wish i had money too. im getting everything slowly but its better than not getting anything at all.

That the way to do it though! My progression with this particular kit started like this:
Gretsch 6 piece (stock snare + heads)
Zildjian A Custom 14" hats, 20" ride, 16" + 17" crashes
All pacific 700 stands and pedals

You never get rid of good cymbals! So the only thing I originally have left is the actual 5 piece shell pack- which i plan to keep as a practice kit once I get to order a new *heavenly* maple kit.

Tim
10-27-2005, 02:33 AM
i started on a cheap $150 kit haha. cheap cymbals that bend when you touch em pretty much. funny how i ended up sellin it for $150 haha. got a pacfic CX now. not so bad. i dont think im gonan upgrade from that anytime soon, i really like the sound i can get out of it. in the process of upgrading all my cymbals, just the hats and ride left....i did it backwords....crashes, china first. haha. next month ill have my hats at least.

crolfe1
10-27-2005, 02:41 AM
Yeah when I bought my Gretsch, it came down to this kit and a nice Pacific kit. GC was doing a promo for the 6 piece so that really won me over.

Kit progression-
Pot-n-Pans/Snare kit/SunLite/Yamaha Stage/Gretsch/DW Snares/...
and I would love to have DW Collectors in place of ... :D

But cymbals... I rocked TKO cymbals for a 2 years, then Zildjian ZBT for 2 more!

Tim
10-27-2005, 02:46 AM
im still rockin the lame ol zxt rock hats haha, i can deal with the paiste 502 ride becuase i actually like that but man the hats gotta go.

The original pics are 2048x1536. I don't think people want them that big. But, just to give you an idea, here is a pic around 40% of the original size.

i returned the Tama brass snare ~ way too dry for me and i dont like recessed "snare beds". they play havok with tuning and snareside head life. not to mention the thing falls apart in under a week.

this is kind of my band right here....minus the bass player....and plus two girlfriends. The guy with blonde hair (Dylan) is the guitarist, the guy with brown hair and the sunglasses (John) is our sound man, but is a part of the band as anyone (he has equal say in everything), the girl in blue is his girlfriend, and then there is me (Noah), and my girlfriend (Monika). Our bassist is missing. I look kinda stupid in this picture, someone was making faces at me, and I almost fell over (hence, whyI'm gripping my girlfriends shoulder, for balance)

Nice kit crofle. Very killer set-up, pretty much how I want my to new kit to be like.

Looks somewhat josh freese inspirered. Would that be correct?

a week older then me...16, 17 on february 5th.

EDIT: I have a pic where she looks a bit older:naughty:

Oh yeah indeed. His drumming really takes 'apc' to the level of complexity were it should be- it's still no Tool, but the music is a great listen.

But his set up is really well layed-out. I tried it one day, and loved it. I don't think I'll ever have 2 toms over the bass drum again.

That projection ride is one of the few A Custom rides I recommend. The ping is okay, as well as the 22" version, but those are the only rides in the A Custom series I'd ever recommend.

I'm soon looking to repalce it with a 22" K Heavy. Now were talkin' business!

^ Ya that's what it looks like, same crash positioning over the hats and toms, then same up over the floor toms with the crash then the china. I really want to try out his set-up but I don't have a six peice to do it with.

I totaly agree with you, his drumming is apc is so great to listen to and really, you could say, completes the music.

i have the 20" a custom projection right now (because i thoughtd they'd go well with the project hats..) and i love it to death. sometimes though, the thing is just too bright.

and the 22" k heavy is what i happen to be saving for. crolfe are u stalking me lol

Anymore what? splashes? Haha, yeah I could use a few more. I definitely have to get a K or two in there, along with one of those Zil-bel things. Those are fun. As far as drums I'm not to sure as of now. I do like your idea of timbales though, and I was thinking of maybe ordering a 16" floor to go along with my 14, but I'm not to sure about that...

Those Zil-Bels are loads of fun. I wanna get the 9.5" to round out the bell section too. If your a Zildjian fan, like me, Zil-Bels are the way to go. But also check out those ice bells and cup chimes!
