i was flipping through a guitar magazine the other day and saw an ad that shows strings that are coated red, green, and black. i just want to know if those strings are any good. if you've tried them, compare them to the strings you used to have.

I personally think they are a gimmick and prefer staying with the normal ones.

In my experience the color wears away fairly quick where I pick.

I've got some - they fade a bit where you pick, but they last for a long time.
They're not too good on trem systems though.
Even though gimmicky, on a fixed bridge, they're just as good (probably even better) than normal strings.
However, my favourite strings are D'addarios.
