I'm thinking of getting the Samson C01U condensor mic.. it's based on the original CO1, except powered by a USB port and not 48V.

this would be good for me, as my little behringer mixer has no phantom.

Has anyone used either? Because it's gone down in price from $180 CDN to $100, veryattractive.

Thanks guys.

USB condesers are a nono depending on what you are doing with it.

USB is not only for powering. This mic will not connect to your mixer, but directly to your computer. You sound like you already have somewhat of a recording setup - I don't recommend this choice.

Sorry... yeah I realized that, but forgot to mention I'd like to record directly to my computer with it, allowing me to sell the mixer and my EV N/DYM 267 dynamic vocal mic.
All I do is record vocals, guitar and bass onto Sonar, and create a drum track on Reason, track on track, so the need for the mixer isn't there.

Also - Does anyone know if this is USB 1 or 2?

It'll be USB 2 if its been developed recently, as i think it has.

Thanks moaner.

Anyways, any actual opinions on the microphone itself?

I've never tried it.
