Well it seems that the time is coming again to upgrade my computer and I've decided to go Mac. Im set on a laptop and will be using a firewire audio interface to record no more then 2 tracks at a time into garageband. Which is the least expensive notebook that i could buy that would run 6-20 tracks without glitching or freezing up... THe reason im asking this is because i have no idea how the speeds of apples processors compare to pentium and amd etc... Besides recording all ill probably be doing is surfing the web and maybee some photo editing... but nothing to demanding.
Thanks in advance.. and if any mac users have any tips to give a newb that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :thumb:

I would be interested in the same thing as well. I've read some articles in Electronic Musician that recommend an iMac, but other than that, I dunno.
There are quite a few forums that have alot stuff on music editing/recording requirements.
I would think an iBook would work, and I'm certain that a powerbook would do everything you could possibly throw at it.
Unless my memory is foggy, I also don't think there is a humongous price gap, I mean, there is one, but in my opinion, the powerbook is worth the higher price.
There are probably more people w/ more knowledge than I, but taht's what I can offer.

Yea, I'm looking at that as well. I was at the Apple Store, not too long ago and i was playing with the powermacs with like a thirty inch screen...I was very impressed.
The 17' is very nice, that's for sure. The 20 is even better. lol
