Buying this game yesterday was a TOUGH decision. Considering i paid 100 last week for the Tekken 5 bundle, and this week I had/have to buy GTA : LCS, and Soul Calibur 3 (today), I wasnt sure if I should run my funds further into the ground.
I figured 35 with the rumble pack is nice, so i said fuk it and bought it.
GREAT FUKKING IDEA :thumb:
if anyone else has played Mario Pinball Land, it has its similarities to that. There 5 tables, that have Samus (ball) killing metroids, bashing Space pirates that shoot missles at your ball, and side little mini games that are wario-ware-esque (yea i made up a word!)
The tables are actually a lot easier to understand then a REAL pinball machine. The people at nintendo were brilliant to put something like this on the dual screen. Most tables seem to be split by the 2 screen (like table on the bottom with 2 paddles, hit it up the middle to the top screen, where theres another 2 paddles)
You rack points up, hit monsters, and even FIGHT BOSSES. While playing the mulit-mission, you complete goals (like killing metroids), get enough artifacts, and advance to more tables where you fight bosses, like the rock throwing dude from metroid prime.
What sets this game apart from the other pinball games, is the way they incorporate other metroid games into playing pinball. Since you are samus as a ball, your ball actually has energy. This means that when metroid attach to your ball (like in the old metroid games) you lose health. Lose too much health, and you lose your ball. Simple enough?
This means that space pirates shoot homing missles at your ball, which can be quite annoying. If you light up the right ramp and score, your ball actually turns back to Samus, where you press either the right or left paddle to change her aim. Enemies start flying at her from all directions and your job is to take them down.
The rumble pack is actually kind of corny. It doesnt FEEL like a normal rumble pack at all. You hear the noise more than anything, but for a FREE price tag, its alright.
I have to say, for me personally, this game was a MUST. I actually find my self playing THIS more than GTA : LCS last night, which you might find impossible to believe.
