A Year and an Ocean is a good song.
Anyway, the only good stuff they did is the s/t 7". The split 10" with the Vida Blue is sort of ****ty.

I've only heard one song, "The Death of an Aspiring Icon" from the Vida Blues split, and I think it's pretty good.

one of my favorite bands. the vocals are just insanely emotional. pretty good lyrics as well. their 7" is one of my favorite records.

This thread should be atleast 7 pages by now. How people can obsess over a band like Orchid and barely care about The Khayembii Communique makes no sense.

i agree. the khayembii communique > Orchid. i cannot emphasize that enough. ok so in attempt to get some discussion going...i think a year and an ocean is one of their best if not their best song.

A Year and an Ocean is incredible, but I prefer AM 1200, Better Times are Better Left Unsaid, and The Thirtieth to it.
Better Times is just so intense when the distortion kicks in and it's both vocalists at once. They go so well together. It's like peanut butter and jelly if peanut butter and jelly were emo.
The Thirtieth is just incredibly sad. It just owns face.
I don't even need to mention why AM 1200 is a masterpiece.

The dual singers is really one of the amazing things about this band. Especially how they entwine the lyrics so dam.n well. Most of their songs are really sad and self doubting/depressing. They have some incredibly powerful lines. But lets not forget about "death of an aspiring icon".

THere's a pretty obvious reason why people 'obsess over Orchid.'
They put out more than the KMB and were also far more groundbreaking and revolutionary, while as good as KMB were, they weren't really doing anything new. Just sort of a cross between maybe Saetia and Braid.

I know the groundbreaking and revolutionary thing, but to be honest, Orchid are mediocre. I can't really get into any of their stuff except for the occassional awesome song.

What are you, twelve? Start collecting Pokemon cards or something and go brag about how your dragon is way rarer than the other dude's dog.

How about you stop flaming people for no reason? I believe the CB fella merely stated his opinion about one band being better than another. I'll do it now: Jawbreaker>Creed. I don't really think its that much of a stretch to compare one screamo(ish) keep your hair on) band to another.
